The Old Catholic Church of Croatia or Croatian Old Catholic Church (Croatian language, Croatian: ''Hrvatska starokatolička crkva'') consists of the Croatian parishes in full communion with the Union of Utrecht of the Old Catholic Churches, Union of Utrecht of the Old Catholic Churches. Since 2018, it is administered by Bishop Heinz Lederleitner. It should not be confused with some alternative organizations of Old Catholic tradition in Croatia, like the ''Old Catholic General vicariate of St. Method in Croatia''. History Old Catholic Church of Croatia was created after First World War and was recognized by state authorities of Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Yugoslavia) in 1923. Marko Kalogjera OL (December 7, 1819 – December 4, 1888), also known as Monsignor Marco Calogerà or Marco Calogjera, was a priest and Roman Catholic Bishop of Split and Makarska, present-day Croatia, and Kotor, present-day Montenegro. On September 7, 1881, he was awarded the title of Commander (Baron) of the Austrian Imperial Order of Leopold. Biography He was ordained on August 27, 1843, and served as chaplain for one year. He later served as chancellor of the Diocese of Dubrovnik for five years. In 1850, he served at the Mandaljena Parish. Between 1850 and 1852, he was Deputy Director of the Dubrovnik Seminary, and he was a professor in Zadar from 1853. In 1856, he was appointed Bishop of Kotor. In 1869, he was appointed Bishop of Split and Makarska. During his time as bishop, he founded the Bishop's Palace and the Foundation of St. Cyril, where he was instrumental in preserving the ancient Glagolithic script. The Old Catholic Church of Austria (german: Altkatholische Kirche Österreichs) is the Austrian member church of the Union of Utrecht of the Old Catholic Churches. In 1997, the church began ordaining women. In 2007, the church elected as its head Bishop John Okoro, a Nigerian former Roman Catholic priest, who became a member of the Old Catholic Church of Austria in 1999. Prior to his election he had been the parish priest in Vorarlberg. He retired in 2015, and new Bishop Heinz Lederleitner was elected at the Synod meeting in Klagenfurt on 24 October 2015, and consecrated in Vienna on 13 February 2016.
