Alan Old
Alan Gerald Bernard Old (born 23 September 1945) is an English rugby union player who had 16 caps for England. Old was an undergraduate at Queen Mary College and later studied for a year at Durham University, where he competed for Durham University RFC. In 1970 he was selected for North-Eastern Counties in their match against South Africa at Gosforth, part of the controversial 1969–70 South Africa rugby union tour of Britain and Ireland. He made his debut for England against Wales in 1972 and made a further 15 appearances with his final one being against France in 1978. His 16 caps included four wins, although these were against New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Wales. Old also played in the famous victory of the North of England over the touring All Blacks at Otley in 1979 with the English regional side running out 21-9 winners. Ashley George Old
Ashley George Old (born 1913, d. 2001) was an artist best known for documenting the lives of prisoners of war forced to construct the Thailand-Burma Railway. During World War II he was stationed in Singapore, and when it fell to the Japanese in February 1942, he was taken prisoner and sent to work on the aforementioned Death Railway. Training and early career Old trained at Northampton College of Art, where he was taught anatomy by Lewis Duckett MC, a World War I ambulanceman. Subsequently he worked for the famous commercial art firm Carlton Artists. He later took further training at the Camberwell School of Art. World War II drawings and paintings The brutal POW camp conditions and medical treatments in River Valley Road Camp, Changi Prison and Tamuan were extensively documented by Old in a series of drawings and paintings. Chris Old (born Christopher Middleton Old, 22 December 1948) is a former English cricketer, who played 46 Tests and 32 ODIs from 1972 to 1981. A right-arm fast-medium bowler and lower order left-handed batsman, Old was a key feature of the Yorkshire side between 1969 and 1983, before finishing his career at Warwickshire in 1985. As a Test bowler for England he took 143 wickets, and scored useful runs in the famous 1981 Ashes series' Headingley victory. Dick Old
Richard Charles Old (3 December 1922 – 29 June 2007) was an Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1974 to 1986. He was state leader of the National Country Party (NCP) from 1975 to 1985, and served as a minister in the governments of Charles Court and Ray O'Connor. Early life Old was born in Katanning, Western Australia, to Vera Anne (née Cornish) and James William Old. His uncle, Cyril Cornish, was also a member of parliament. After leaving school, Old began working for Goldsbrough Mort & Co., an agricultural retailer. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1941, and during the war served on airbases in North-West Australia (including Corunna Downs Airfield) as a wireless operator. After being discharged in 1945, Old returned to Goldsbrough Mort as a manager, working for periods in Perth, Midland, Corrigin, and Moora. Hughes Oliphant Old (April 13, 1933 – May 24, 2016) was an American theologian and academic. Until his retirement in 2014 he was the John H. Leith Professor of Reformed Theology and Worship at Erskine Theological Seminary. Previously he had taught at Princeton Theological Seminary. Biography Old was born April 13, 1933, and received his Bachelor of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1958 and his Doctor of Theology from the University of Neuchâtel in 1971. His first charge was minister of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church in Atglen, Pennsylvania. In the late ‘70s he served as pastor at Faith Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette Indiana where he also led students at Purdue University in bible study. In 1977 he led a mission to the Yucatán peninsula to build a small chapel. He was appointed a member of the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, NJ in 1985. Richard Old
Richard Old (1856–1932), was an English woodworker and prolific model maker, specialising in fretwork. He was born in Staithes, though for most of his life he lived at 6 Ruby Street in Middlesbrough and it was in that small terraced house that he made all the models - over 750 of them - for which he is celebrated. A cabinet maker by day, Old would work obsessively through the night on his hobby. Many of the models were scaled down versions of real buildings and other structures famous for their architecture. His miniatures were astonishingly faithful to the originals, right down to the smallest detail. Old's work has been displayed at various exhibitions since the 1930s. Many of his models formed the 'Richold collection', which of its type was generally regarded as unrivalled. The collection has since been broken up and sold off. Steven David Old (born 17 February 1986) is a New Zealand footballer who plays as a defender for East Kilbride in the Lowland League. Club career He was released from A-League club Wellington Phoenix at the end of the 2007/08 season. He formerly played for the Newcastle United Jets where he covered for Craig Deans who was in the USA. Prior to joining the Jets, Old attended St. John's University (NY) and played two years of football there. Old was training with Scottish Premier League club Kilmarnock since 22 January 2009, awaiting his work permit to sign for that team.
