Martti Olavi Siirala (24 November 1922 – 18 August 2008) was a Finnish psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and philosopher. He was inspired by psychoanalysis, the anthropological medicine of Viktor von Weizsäcker and the existential philosophy of Martin Heidegger. The outcome was a unique synthesis theory that Siirala called social pathology. Siirala studied psychoanalysis in Zürich under the guidance of Medard Boss and Gustav Bally. There he met also colleague and lifetime friend Gaetano Benedetti. Siirala was also the founding member of Finnish Therapeia-foundation, an alternative psychoanalytic training institute established 1958. Especially in the early years Siirala was actually the principal of the foundation, both at a theoretical and practical level. Olavi Salonen (born 20 December 1933 in Noormarkku) is a Finnish athlete. He is a former world record holder of men's 1500-metre run. Biography Salonen participated the Summer Olympic Games in 1500 m. in 1960 and 1964. At the European Athletics Championships he competed twice on 800 metres, 1958 and 1962 On 11 July 1957 Salonen ran a 1500-metre race in Turku. He finished second with the same world record time 3:40.2 as the winner Olavi Salsola. The new world record stood only for one day. Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Vaino Olavi Partanen (27 May 1928 – 23 October 1969) was a member of the Canadian Forces and a recipient of the Cross of Valour for his actions during an engine room explosion aboard HMCS ''Kootenay'' on 23 October 1969. The Cross of Valour is Canada's highest decoration for bravery in non-combat circumstances. He was born in Antrea, Finland. Olavi Uusivirta (born 28 July 1983 in Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish rock/pop singer, songwriter and actor. Childhood and education Before his school years Uusivirta moved with his parents first to Kotka and later to Karkkila due to his mother's work. At the end of elementary school he started guitar and piano lessons. He also attended art classes and a theatre club that his mother directed. In 1995 he attended the Mustikkamaa midsummer festival in Helsinki where young Uusivirta saw Ismo Alanko perform. This performance inspired him and guided his life more towards music and performing. Matti Olavi "Ola" Tuomi (22 May 1932 – 14 November 2006) was a Finnish cinematographer, chief lighting technician and actor. Tuomi started to work for Suomen Filmiteollisuus at the age of 15. His first major work was being one of the cinematographers of the Edvin Laine film '' The Unknown Soldier'' (1955). He continued to work for Laine both as a cinematographer and an assistant director up until the end of Laine's career. Heikki Olavi Suomalainen (born 27 March 1947 in Sääminki) is a Finnish former marathon runner. He won the Boston Marathon in 1972 by an 18-second margin over Víctor Mora. In 1973 he finished third at the same race. During his career, Olavi Suomalainen sustained injuries and failed to qualify for the Summer Olympics or European Championships in Athletics. He took the bronze medal at the Finnish Championship Marathon in the Olympic years 1972 and 1976. However, in 1976 gold medalist Håkan Spik, silver medalist Jukka Toivola, and Lasse Virén were nominated to the Olympic Marathon.
