Olav Eldøy (born 1 November 1948) is a Norwegian furniture designer. Eldøy was born in 1948 on Stord, Norway. He was educated the National College of Art & Design in Bergen 1973. Some of his award winning products are: the chair Peel, the chair Date & the chair Eight produced by the Norwegian furniture manufacture Variér. Stord, Norway
Stord is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnhordland. Stord is sometimes called "Norway in miniature" since it has such a variety of landscapes: coastline, fjords, forests, agricultural land, and mountain areas. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Leirvik, which is also the largest town in the municipality and the whole region of Sunnhordland. Leirvik was declared a town in 1997. Other population centres in the municipality include the large village of Sagvåg and the smaller villages of Litlabø and Grov. Norwegian Design Council ( no, Norsk Designråd) was a Norwegian state-controlled foundation that encouraged good design of Norwegian products as a key to improved innovation and the products international reputation and sales. Among the activities of the Norwegian Design Council were awarding the ''Merket for God Design'' and ''Design Effekt'' awards. It also cooperated closely with Innovation Norway concerning new ventures. The council worked as a competence centre and was funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, through consulting and through other projects.
