Oktoberfest Tents
There are a series of tents (often called ''beer tents'') at the Oktoberfest, which are operated by different Wiesn-hosts and in which some come from a long tradition. Some tents belong to the local breweries. The setup work for the tents often begins three months before the start of the festival. Big marquees Armbrustschützenzelt The Armbrustschützenzelt (crossbow firing tent) has been around since 1895. It has 5,830 indoor and 1,620 outdoor seats. Festwirt (tent operator) is Peter Inselkammer, brother of the owner of the Ayinger Brewery. What is poured however, come from the Paulaner Brewery, since only beer from Munich breweries is served at the Oktoberfest. The German Championship for crossbow, 30m national discipline, takes place traditionally every year in the Armbrustschützenzelt. Rolf Zehetbauer
Rolf Zehetbauer (13 February 1929 – 23 January 2022) was a German production designer, art director and set decorator. Zehetbauer won an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the film ''Cabaret''. He died on 23 January 2022, at the age of 92. The Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München (''public Royal Brewery in Munich'', also ''Hofbräu München'') is a brewery in Munich, Germany, owned by the Bavarian state government. The ''Hof'' (''court'') comes from the brewery's history as a royal brewery in the Kingdom of Bavaria. The brewery owns the ''Hofbräuhaus am Platzl'', the ''Hofbräukeller'' and one of the largest tents at the Oktoberfest ('' Hofbräu-Festzelt''). There are many types of beer brewed using original recipes handed down by Wilhelm V, the Duke of Bavaria. Linda Jo Rizzo
Linda Jo Rizzo (born 1 April 1955, in New York City) is an American singer, songwriter and producer, with Italian roots, currently based in Germany. Originally from the United States, she was a photo model and studied nourishing sciences in New York. There she met Bobby Orlando and participated in his group, The Flirts, from 1983 to 1984. In 1984, Rizzo moved to Germany and started her own music career there. Rizzo was the owner of an Italian music restaurant in Munich called Piazza Linda, which was sold in August 2008. Waldwirtschaft
The Waldwirtschaft is a tavern with a large beer garden just south of Munich. It is situated in the municipality of Pullach in the ward of Großhesselohe on the high bank (fluvial terrace) of the Isar. Sepp Krätz has been the publican since 1981, and has run the Hippodrome Festival Tent at the Oktoberfest from 1995 to 2014. The tavern is a two-winged hip roof building dating from the middle of the 19th century and is a listed building together with the neighbouring Chapel of the Holy Trinity. History The earliest mention of the property dates back to 776 and a dairy in the possession of Tassilo III, Duke of Bavaria, which, together with the hamlet of Baierbrunn, was gifted to the Schäftlarn Abbey in the hope that his soul might find everlasting peace. Barker (occupation)
A barker, often a carnival barker, is a person who attempts to attract patrons to entertainment events, such as a circus or funfair, by exhorting passing members of the public, announcing attractions of show, and emphasizing variety, novelty, beauty, or some other enticing feature of the show. A barker would often conduct a brief free show, introducing performers and describing acts to be given at the feature performance. Professional barkers strongly disliked the term and instead referred to themselves as "talkers". Hippodrome
The hippodrome ( el, ἱππόδρομος) was an ancient Greek stadium for horse racing and chariot racing. The name is derived from the Greek words ''hippos'' (ἵππος; "horse") and ''dromos'' (δρόμος; "course"). The term is used in the modern French language and some others, with the meaning of "horse racecourse".
