The Oklahoma Sooners men's gymnastics team represents the University of Oklahoma and competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The University of Oklahoma (OU) is a Public university, public research university in Norman, Oklahoma. Vitaliy Guimaraes
Vitaliy Guimaraes (born May 18, 2000) is an American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the silver medal-winning team at the 2021 Pan American Championships. He is a member of the USA national team and is currently competing in collegiate gymnastics for Oklahoma. Personal life Guimaraes was born in Dallas, Texas on May 18, 2000. He was raised in Arvada, Colorado. Gymnastics career 2016–18 Guimaraes competed at the RD761 International Junior Team Cup; his team finished fourth. He competed at his first elite-level national championships where he finished sixth in the all-around in the 15-16 age division. Guimaraes was selected to compete at the 2016 Junior Pan American Championships where he helped the United States finish first as a team. Gymnastics At The 1984 Summer Olympics
At the 1984 Summer Olympics, two different gymnastics disciplines were contested. In addition to the fourteen artistic gymnastics events contested, for the first time at the Olympics, a rhythmic gymnastics event was contested–the women's individual all-around. All of the gymnastics events were held at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles from July 29 through August 11. Several teams who had qualified to compete were absent as a result of the 1984 Summer Olympics boycott, including the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, and North Korea. This was the first time in Olympic competition that eight gymnasts were allowed to move onto an apparatus final, instead of the previous six. Gymnastics At The 1976 Summer Olympics
At the 1976 Summer Olympics, fourteen different artistic gymnastics events were contested, eight for men and six for women. All events were held at the Montreal Forum in Montreal from July 18 through 23. For the first time in Olympic competition, countries were limited to having three gymnasts in the all-around competition and two gymnasts in each apparatus final. This was a controversial decision, which prevented many gymnasts of strong teams from competing in the finals. In addition, for the first time the number of countries allowed to bring full teams of six gymnasts and compete in the team competition was limited to twelve. Jarrod Hanks
Jarrod Hanks (born July 28, 1969) is a retired American gymnast. he first began gymnastics in 1977. Hanks was a member of the 1991 and 1992 World Championship squads. He did not make it to the 1992 Olympics, placing 9th all-around at the Trials. Hanks competed for the University of Oklahoma and was the 1992 Nissen Award The Nissen Award (Nissen Emery Award) is the award given to the best male collegiate gymnast in the United States. Alexander Naddour
Alexander "Alex" Naddour (born March 4, 1991) is a former American artistic gymnast. He was part of the bronze medal team at the 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Naddour was an alternate for Team USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He also won a bronze medal on the pommel horse individual event competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He announced his retirement from gymnastics on March 26, 2021 via Instagram. Personal life Naddour was born on March 4, 1991, to Mike and Sandy Naddour in Gilbert, Arizona. Yul Moldauer
Yul Kyung-Tae Moldauer (born August 26, 1996) is an American artistic gymnast. He is the 2017 U.S. national all-around champion and the 2017 World bronze medalist on floor exercise. He represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life and education Moldauer was born in Seoul, South Korea on August 16, 1996 and named Kyung-Tae. Before he was a year old, Peter Moldauer adopted him and named him Yul after the actor Yul Brynner. Jake Dalton
Jacob "Jake" Dalton (born August 19, 1991) is a retired American gymnast who was a member of the University of Oklahoma gymnastics team and the United States men's national gymnastics team. He represented the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Dalton grew up in Sparks, Nevada, and is the son of Tim and Denise Dalton. Steven Legendre
Steven Legendre (born May 5, 1989) is an American gymnast who competed for the University of Oklahoma Sooners men's gymnastic team from 2008 to 2011 and is a member of the U.S. National Team. Early years Steven was born to Raymond and Lisa Legendre, and has 2 sisters (Jaime and Jessica) and one brother, Michael. Jessica played softball for the University of Oklahoma. He attended Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson, New York, where he competed on the wrestling team, and then Spring Creek Academy in Plano, Texas, when he began training under Yuri Kartsev at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy. Jonathan Horton
Jonathan Alan Horton (born December 31, 1985) is a former American artistic gymnast. He is the 2008 Olympic silver medalist on high bar, the 2010 World all-around bronze medalist, a two-time Olympian, a two-time U.S. National All-Around Champion, and a 17-time medalist at the U.S. National Championships. At the 2008 Olympics, he also won a bronze medal with his U.S. teammates in the team competition. Bart Conner
Bart Wayne Conner (born March 28, 1958) is a retired American Olympic gymnast. As a member of the US men's gymnastics team at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, Conner won two gold medals. He owns and operates the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy in Norman, Oklahoma, along with his wife, Romanian Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comăneci. In addition, both Comăneci and Conner are highly involved with the Special Olympics. Hercules is a city in western Contra Costa County, California.
