The Oi Rio Pro 2015 was an event of the Association of Surfing Professionals for 2015 ASP World Tour. This event was held from 11 to 17 May at Rio de Janeiro, (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and opposed by 36 surfers. The tournament was won by Filipe Toledo (BRA), who beat Bede Durbidge Bede Durbidge (born 23 February 1983) is an Australian professional surfer competing on the World Surf League World Tour. John John Florence
John "John John" Alexander Florence (born October 18, 1992) is an American professional surfer. He is known as "one of the most dominant pipe surfers of his era" and won back-to-back world titles on the 2016 World Surf League and 2017 World Surf League Men's Championship Tour. He is the first Hawaii-born surfer to win back-to-back world titles since the late Andy Irons and one of five to ever achieve the feat. In 2019, Florence qualified to represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in surfing. From 2018 he has been struggling with some knee injuries. Jordy Smith
Jordan Michael "Jordy" Smith (born 11 February 1988) is a South African professional surfer, competing on the World championship tour surfing (WCT). In 2007 Smith won surfing's World Qualifying Series, the second-tier tour which leads to qualification for the World championship tour (WCT) surfing. Jordy Smith won both the 2010 and 2011 Billabong J-Bay competitions in South Africa. He has also won 2014 and 2016 Hurley Pro at trestles California . In 2013 he won the Rio Pro in Brazil. All of these contests are part of the world championship tour. Smith grew up in Durban and started surfing at age 3. He attended a local Durban high school, Glenwood High School. Sebastian Zietz (born February 6, 1988 in Fort Pierce, Florida) is an American professional surfer. Zietz grew up in Kauai, Hawaii, after his parents moved there in 1988 and started surfing at 4 years old. In 2013, he qualified for the World Championship Tour for the first time, after winning the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa, Hawaii. Mick Fanning
Michael Eugene Fanning (born 13 June 1981) is an Australian professional surfer who was crowned champion of the Association of Surfing Professionals/World Surf League (ASP/WSL)'s World Tour in 2007, 2009 and 2013. In 2015, he survived a shark attack by what is suspected to be a great white shark during the J-Bay Open finals in Jeffreys Bay.
