Ohrid Summer Festival
The Ohrid Summer Festival ( mk, Охридско лето) is a festival founded on 4 August 1961, always taking place between 12 July and 20 August in the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia. Originally, the event was initiated and it played important role in efforts of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia to emancipate and promote Macedonian culture in SFR Yugoslavia and abroad after decades of underfunding, neglect by states that encompassed Macedonia or outright suppression. The event is funded by the Ministry of Culture of North Macedonia and sponsors. The President of North Macedonia is the patron of the festival. The festival has featured prominent artists since 1961, such as José Carreras. Since 1994, the festival has been a member of the European Festivals Association. Latinka Perović
Latinka Perović ( sr-Cyrl, Латинка Перовић; 4 October 1933 – 12 December 2022) was a Yugoslav communist leader, historian and politician. During the existence of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Perović was a secretary general of the League of Communists of Serbia in period between 1968 and 1972. In 1972 Federal League of Communists of Yugoslavia dismissed her from her position together with Marko Nikezić and Mirko Tepavac under the accusation that they were excessively liberal. Dismissal of Serbian liberals in 1972 followed an earlier dismissal of Croatian nationalists of the Croatian Spring. Salvatore Accardo (; Knight Grand Cross born 26 September 1941 in Turin, northern Italy) is an Italian violinist and conductor, who is known for his interpretations of the works of Niccolò Paganini. Accardo owns one Stradivarius violin, the "Hart ex Francescatti" (1727) and had the "Firebird ex Saint-Exupéry" (1718). Ruggiero Ricci (24 July 1918 – 5 August 2012) was an American violinist known for performances and recordings of the works of Niccolò Paganini, Paganini. Gidon Kremer ( lv, Gidons Krēmers; born 27 February 1947) is a Latvian classical violinist, artistic director, and founder of Kremerata Baltica. Life and career Gidon Kremer was born in Riga. Aldo Ciccolini (; 15 August 1925 – 1 February 2015) was an Italian pianist who became a naturalized French citizen in 1971. Biography Aldo Ciccolini was born in Naples. His father, who bore the title of Marquis of Macerata, worked as a typographer.
