State Route 139 (SR 139) is a north–south road that stretches from New Boston at its southern terminus to Jackson, Ohio at its northern terminus. This route offers a quick, yet narrow and sharp route to Jackson. US 23 and SR 32 offer a more straight route with a higher speed limit, though less direct. SR 139 begins at an intersection with US 52 in New Boston. The route goes north through a couple of traffic lights before passing through Portsmouth, Eden Park, Twin Valley, Rubyville, and Clarktown before it continues due east toward Minford. From there it crosses SR 335 and then begins to turn north once again. After reaching the Scioto County and Jackson County line, SR 279 splits off of State Route 139 and heads toward Oak Hill. Ohio State Route 335
State Route 335 (SR 335) is a north–south state highway in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Its southern terminus is at US 52 in Sciotoville, a neighborhood within the city of Portsmouth, and its northern terminus is at SR 220 in Waverly where it has a wrong-way concurrency with US 23 and SR 104 for . Route description Along the way, it intersects with SR 139 in Minford and SR 776 near Stockdale. It crosses SR 32 and SR 124 near Beaver. History SR 335 was commissioned in 1932, on it current route between Minford and Beaver. The highway was extended to Waverly in 1937. In 1939, the route was extended south to Portsmouth. In 2003, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) commenced construction on a $1.8 million project to realign SR 335 from Dixon Mill Road to Gampp Lane in Scioto County east of the CSX railroad line. Jackson Lake State Park (Ohio)
Jackson Lake State Park is a public recreation area covering along the shores of Jackson Lake in Jackson County, Ohio, in the United States. Recreational activities available at the park include camping, boating, fishing, swimming and picnicking. History The forests in and around Jackson Lake State Park were previously harvested to fire the furnaces of numerous 19th-century iron works that were located in southern Ohio. Remnants of the Jefferson Iron Furnace are found in the park. The park was established as a state park in 1979. It had previously been a "state reserve", similar to a park but with less development, after a dam was built on Black Fork creating Jackson Lake in 1938. State Route 93 (SR 93) is a north–south highway that stretches from Ironton on the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge to State Route 261 in Akron. At a length of , it is the third longest state route in Ohio. The route from Ironton to West Lafayette was once signed as State Route 75. In 1962, to eliminate confusion with an interstate in Ohio having the same number, State Route 75 was replaced by State Route 93 which had previously terminated in West Lafayette. State Route 776 (SR 776) is an east–west state highway located in southern Ohio. The western terminus of SR 776 is at a T-intersection with SR 335 about north of Minford. Minford is a census-designated place located on the border of Harrison and Madison townships in northeastern Scioto County, Ohio, United States, about northeast of the county seat of Portsmouth. Jackson, Ohio
Jackson is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Ohio, United States approximately 27 mi (43 km) SE of Chillicothe. The population was 6,239 at the 2020 census. History Established in 1817, residents named the town after Andrew Jackson, a hero of the War of 1812, and an eventual president of the United States. The community grew slowly, having only 297 inhabitants in 1840. In 1846, Jackson contained four churches, about seven stores, and a single newspaper office.
