Ohio Historical Center
The Ohio History Center is a history museum and research center in Columbus, Ohio. It is the primary museum for Ohio's history, and is the headquarters, offices, and library of the Ohio History Connection. The building also houses Ohio's state archives, also managed by the Ohio History Connection. The museum is located at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, site of the Ohio State Fair, and a short distance north of downtown. The history center opened in 1970 as the Ohio Historical Center, moving the museum from its former site by the Ohio State University. The building was designed by Ireland & Associates in the Brutalist style. Attributes The Ohio History Center is the headquarters of the Ohio History Connection, which also operates dozens of state historic sites across Ohio. Ohio Statehouse
The Ohio Statehouse is the List of state and territorial capitols in the United States, state capitol building and seat of government for the U.S. state of Ohio. The Greek Revival building is located on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, Downtown Columbus. William Corless Mills (January 2, 1860 - January 17, 1928) was a US museum curator. Mills was born in Pyrmont, Ohio. Lucy Allen Smart
Lucy Allen Smart (née Lucy Allen, 1877–1960) was an American librarian and curator. Work at Ohio State Allen began her studies to become a librarian at Ohio State University in 1894. While there she assisted Warren K. Moorehead, professor of archaeology at Ohio State and the curator of the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society's museum, in compiling a catalogue and map of archaeological sites in the state. Moorehead was forced to resign his post in 1897 when he contracted tuberculosis. He recommended that Allen finish the catalogue, saying that she knew the material "better than any other person – next to myself". She also took over his role as curator for a five-month period in 1898. Her successor, William Corless Mills, revised and expanded Moorehead and Allen's map and published it as the landmark ''Archaeological Atlas of Ohio'', the first comprehensive state archaeological survey produced in the United States. A warren is a network of wild rodent or lagomorph, typically rabbit burrows. Domestic warrens are artificial, enclosed establishment of animal husbandry dedicated to the raising of rabbits for meat and fur. Old Governor's Mansion (Columbus, Ohio)
The Columbus Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization in Columbus, Ohio, founded in 1943. History The foundation was created by Harrison M. Sayre. Sayre's father was involved in philanthropy in Newark, Ohio. As Sayre became more involved in the community, he felt he could benefit it with the community foundation. Sayre and Russell Cole met with Huntington Bank and City National Bank executives to establish the foundation on December 29, 1943. In 1947, the Ohio National Bank joined the foundation.
