Ohio High School Athletic Conferences
This is a list of high school athletic conferences in Ohio, separated by Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) region. Some conferences have schools in multiple regions, and will be listed in all applicable regions. However, the conference information is on the region page where the most schools are classified in. Conference membership in Ohio is voluntary, rather than assigned by the state association like in some states. While this ensures that many rivalries stay intact regardless of classification changes, it also means schools can choose to change conferences pending acceptance into a different conference, or in rare cases, can be forced out of a conference. This can explain why some conferences have a lengthy list of former members, and the number of defunct conferences. A map is a symbolic depiction emphasizing relationships between elements of some space, such as objects, regions, or themes. Ohio Valley Athletic Conference
The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference is a high school sports league in parts of southeastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. The OVAC is the largest conference of its kind in the United States. Schools in the upper Ohio Valley supply over 18,000 athletes in various competitive athletic areas. The conference was organized in 1943. Classification Schools are categorized by enrollment of eligible athletes, where Class A is the smallest enrollment and Class AAAAA is the largest enrollment. As of the 2020-2021 school year, there are 18,332 eligible athletes in grades 9 through 11. The Federal League is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) sports conference that was established in 1964 and includes schools from Stark and Summit counties. All-American Conference
The All-American Conference is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA)-sanctioned league created in 2008 from the merger of the Trumbull Athletic Conference and Metro Athletic Conference (formerly the Mahoning Valley Conference). 17 sports are offered throughout fall, winter and spring sports seasons. The conference has teams divided into four (4) tiers, depending on sport and includes Gold, Red, White and Blue divisions. Between the merger, the only schools that declined to participate in the merger were the MAC's East Liverpool High School and the TAC's Brookfield High School (Brookfield, Ohio), Brookfield High School, with Beaver Local High School joining. At its height, the conference had teams divided into four tiers, depending on the eligible enrollment of each school as well as the sport being played, including Gold, Red, White and Blue divisions. Akron City Series
The Akron City Series is a high school athletic conference based entirely in the city of Akron, Ohio, United States, that includes the six high schools of the Akron Public Schools. It competes as part of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Current members † - While part of the Akron Public Schools since 1929, Ellet did not join the City Series until 1971 The Akron school board voted in October 2016 to build a new high school that would consolidate both Garfield and Kenmore high schools. The schools will merge and be housed at the Kenmore location for the 2017–2018 school year while the new building is constructed on the Garfield site. Tri-Valley Conference (Ohio)
The Tri-Valley Conference (TVC) is a 14-member high school athletic conference located in southeastern Ohio. The 14 Ohio high school conference members are affiliated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). The conference is divided into two divisions based on school size. The Ohio Division features the larger schools and the Hocking Division features the smaller schools. Southern Ohio Conference
The Southern Ohio Conference (S.O.C.) is an athletic conference in Ohio. The conference is also a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the governing body of Ohio athletics. There are currently seventeen member schools in the conference.
