Ohio Capital Conference
The Ohio Capital Conference is a high school athletic conference located in Central Ohio. It comprises 32 public high schools located primarily in suburban Columbus, Ohio, encompassing Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, and Union counties. The league is geographically divided into four divisions of six teams each (Ohio, Central, Buckeye, and Capital) and one division of eight teams (Cardinal). Twenty-three schools compete in the OHSAA's Division I classification for football while eight schools compete in Division II. All conference members compete in the Central District postseason tournaments prior to the regional and state tournaments. Academically, 27 of the 32 members were rated 'Excellent' by the Ohio Department of Education during the 2010–11 school year. Ohio High School Athletic Association
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports. Membership There are approximately 820 member high schools and 850 more schools in the 7th-8th grade division of the OHSAA. Most public and private high schools in Ohio belong to the OHSAA. Big Walnut High School is a public high school located in Sunbury, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Big Walnut School District. The first Big Walnut High School to open was in August of 1951 at 105 Baughman Street. The current building was opened in January of 2022 to meet the demands of the growing district and has a student population of 1221. The school's mascot is the Golden Eagle. History Big Walnut Local School District was formed by a legislative action of the Delaware County Board of Education in January 1950.
