The film is based on true events in Spain during the early 1970s and is based on the eponymous book by Julen Agirre (pseudonym of Eva Forest). ''The Guardian''. Gilberto Pontecorvo (; 19 November 1919 – 12 October 2006) was an Italian filmmaker associated with the political cinema movement of the 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for directing the landmark war docudrama ''The Battle of Algiers'' (1966), which won the Golden Lion at the 21st Venice Film Festival, and earned him Oscar nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. His other films include the ''Kapò'' (1960), a Holocaust drama; ''Burn!'' The assassination of Prime Minister Luis Carrero Blanco, also known by its code name Operación Ogro ( en, Operation Ogre), had far-reaching consequences within the politics of Spain. Admiral Carrero Blanco was killed in Madrid by the Basque separatist group ETA on 20 December 1973. The assassination is considered to have been the biggest attack against the Francoist State since the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939. The death of Carrero Blanco had numerous political implications. Eusebio Poncela Aprea (born 15 September 1947) is a Spanish actor. Biography Eusebio Poncela Aprea was born in Madrid on 15 September 1947. Eva Forest
Genoveva Forest Tarrat () was a Spanish far-left activist, writer and political prisoner. Born into an anarchist family in Barcelona, she studied medicine in Madrid. During the 1970s, she supported the Basque separatist group ETA in their resistance to the government of dictator Francisco Franco. From 1974 to 1977, she was imprisoned for alleged complicity in the Cafetería Rolando bombing (1974) which killed 13 people in Madrid. After Spain's transition to democracy, she served a term as a senator from 1992 until 1993. The wife of the Spanish writer Alfonso Sastre, she died in May 2007. Forest's writings were political in nature. Luis Carrero Blanco
Admiral-General Luis Carrero Blanco (4 March 1904 – 20 December 1973) was a Spanish Navy officer and politician. A long-time confidant and right-hand man of dictator Francisco Franco, Carrero served as the Prime Minister of Spain and in various other high ranking offices in the regime until his assassination in a car bombing in December 1973. Upon graduating from the naval academy Carrero Blanco participated in the Rif War, and later the Spanish Civil War, in which he supported the Rebel faction. He became one of the most prominent figures in the Francoist dictatorship's power structure and held throughout his career a number of high-ranking offices such as those of Undersecretary of the Presidency from 1941 to 1967 and Franco's deputy from 1967 to 1973. He also was the main drafter behind the 1947 Law of Succession to the Headship of the State. Ana Torrent Bertrán de Lis (born 12 July 1966) is a Spanish film actress. Giorgio Arlorio
Giorgio Arlorio (27 February 1929 – 25 July 2019) was an Italian screenwriter and director. Biography Born in Turin, Arlorio began his career in 1951 as an assistant director for Pietro Germi, Mario Soldati and Michelangelo Antonioni, while between the 1960s and the 1970s became a regular collaborator of Gillo Pontecorvo and Carlo Lizzani, with whom he co-wrote some of their films. He also directed some political documentaries. For many years, Arlorio taught Screenwriting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
