Ognyan Velikov Nikolov ( bg, Огнян Великов Николов, born 13 June 1949) is a retired Bulgarian freestyle wrestler. He won a silver medal at the 1972 Olympics and a bronze at the 1971 World Championships. At the European championships, he won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal in 1969–1974, placing fourth-fifth in 1975–76. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. The city is built west of the Iskar river, and has many mineral springs, such as the Sofia Central Mineral Baths. It has a humid continental climate. Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling.
