Deborah Offner
Deborah Offner (born August 7, 1959) is an American actress, songwriter, playwright, and theatre director. Life Offner was born in New York City in 1959. Her father was Mortimer Offner, a photographer, screenwriter, and TV and theatre director. He wrote many of Katharine Hepburn's early films, but he was blacklisted. Her mother, Pauline, was a photography editor and worked for the first medical photography journal ''Scope''. She went to Sarah Lawrence College and NYU School of the Arts, and after graduating she continued to work in theatre on and off Broadway. She has since appeared in '' Act One'' at the Lincoln Center, and in film and television on ''Orange Is the New Black'' and in the comedy ''Top Five''. His parents Samuel and Helen (Wolowitz) had emigrated from Eastern Europe. He studied at Cooper Union before receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from Yale University, where he was a protege of Joseph Albers. He joined the faculty at Smith College in 1960 and was appointed Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Humanities in 1974. Offner taught at Smith until his retirement in 2004. Paul Offner (August 7, 1942April 20, 2004) was an American economist, educator, public health expert, and Democratic politician. Biography Born in Bennington, Vermont, Offner was raised in Italy. Offner graduated from Amherst College in 1964. He received an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University in 1966 and a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University in 1970 after completing a doctoral dissertation titled "Labor force participation in the ghetto: a study of New York City poverty areas." In 1974, Offner was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Then in 1976, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate serving until 1984. Richard Offner (June 30, 1889 – August 26, 1965) was an Austrian-American art historian dedicated to the study of Florentine paintings from the Renaissance. Biography Offner was born in Vienna, Austria, on June 30, 1889. In 1891, his family emigrated to New York City. He pursued his undergraduate degree at Harvard University from 1909 to 1912, continuing as a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome from 1912 to 1914. In 1914, he submitted his dissertation in art history under Max Dvořák at the University of Vienna. He was granted his Doctorate, however, his dissertation is now lost. In 1915, Offner accepted a position as an instructor of art history at the University of Chicago. In 1920, he moved to Harvard as a Sachs Fellow. Offner then joined New York University as an assistant professor in 1923, advancing to full professorship in 1927.
