Offerings (film)
''Offerings'' is a 1989 American slasher film written, produced and directed by Christopher Reynolds. Plot John Radley's childhood was not a particularly nice one; his father's abandonment, an abusive mother, bullied by neighborhood kids and his pets had a tendency to die on him. Only his first crush Gretchen ever treated him with kindness. But this all ended when he was goaded into performing a balancing act, whereupon a malicious prank backfired and Johnny ended up plunging down a dried up well to greet a rock floor. Since then he has been in Oakhurst State mental hospital for over a decade. Left semi-comatose, he has only his now-distorted memories and nightmarish flashbacks for comfort. Tobe Sexton
Tobe Sexton (born September 6, 1968) is an American actor and producer. Sexton was born in Fort Worth, Texas, he studied acting and directing for theatre as well as film at The California Institute of the Arts from which he earned a BFA. He appeared as a teenage Freddy Krueger in '' Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare''. In 1995 Sexton co-founded the Bauhaus Film Group. Around 2000 he moved underground to Indie film and created The TCS or The Technological City State, Productions. Affiliates include The International High IQ Society, Mandalay Entertainment, Apogee Magic, the Entertainment Technology Center-USC as well as several indie production companies and filmmakers. Slasher Film
A slasher film is a genre of horror films involving a killer stalking and murdering a group of people, usually by use of bladed or sharp tools like knife, chainsaw, scalpel, etc. Although the term "slasher" may occasionally be used informally as a generic term for any horror film involving murder, film analysts cite an established set of characteristics which set slasher films apart from other horror subgenres, such as monster movies, splatter films, supernatural and psychological horror films. Critics cite the Italian ''giallo'' films and psychological horror films such as ''Peeping Tom'' (1960) and '' Psycho'' (1960) as early influences. The goad is a traditional farming implement, used to spur or guide livestock, usually oxen, which are pulling a plough or a cart; used also to round up cattle. It is a type of long stick with a pointed end, also known as the cattle prod. The word is from Middle English ''gode'', from Old English ''gād''. Max Burnett (born July 24, 1969) is an American screenwriter, director, and producer who has been active in film and television since 1991. He directed the football sleeper hit ''Possums'' in 1998 In 2008 he created and executive produced the Nickelodeon series ''The Troop'' along with Chris Morgan and Greg Coolidge. Filmed in Vancouver, ''The Troop'' started airing in the fall of 2009. An exploitation film is a film that tries to succeed financially by exploiting current trends, niche genres, or lurid content. Exploitation films are generally low-quality "B movies", though some set trends, attract critical attention, become historically important, and even gain a cult following. History Exploitation films may feature suggestive or explicit sex, sensational violence, drug use, nudity, gore, destruction, rebellion, mayhem, and the bizarre. Such films were first seen in their modern form in the early 1920s, but they were popularized in the 60s and 70s with the general relaxing of censorship and cinematic taboos in the U.S. and Europe. Horror-of-personality is a specific sub-category of horror and thriller genres; as opposed to excessive violence or the presence of malevolent supernatural beings, such stories evoke horror and/or suspense through villains who are perfectly human, but possess horrific personalities. A splatter film is a subgenre of horror films that deliberately focuses on graphic portrayals of gore and graphic violence.
