"Of the Night" is a song by British band Bastille, released on 11 October 2013 as the lead single from ''All This Bad Blood'' (2013), a reissue of their debut studio album '' Bad Blood'' (2013). The song debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart, and has also charted in several other countries. The song was covered by Ellie Goulding at BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. Background and release "Of the Night" is a mash up of two 1990s Eurodance songs, the 1993 hit "The Rhythm of the Night" by Italian act Corona and the 1992 hit " Rhythm Is a Dancer" by German group Snap!. The song was first featured on Bastille's mixtape '' Other People's Heartache'', which was released in 2012 as a free download. "Of the Night" was later used in a promotional trailer for the eighth series of ITV's '' Dancing on Ice'' in January 2013. Corona (band)
Corona is an Italian Eurodance project. Initially as a band originally formed by the Brazilian-born singer and model Olga Maria de Souza and the producer Francesco "Checco" Bontempi (a.k.a. Lee Marrow), it found commercial success with the worldwide hits "The Rhythm of the Night" (1993) and " Baby Baby" (1995). After the second album, Bontempi left the band and was replaced by Francesco Conte and Paolo Dughero. The eighth series of '' Dancing on Ice'' aired from on 6 January to 10 March 2013 on ITV. Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley returned as hosts, and Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean serving as mentors to the celebrities. The series was judged by ''The Ice Panel'', consisting of Robin Cousins, Karen Barber, Ashley Roberts and Jason Gardiner. ''Other People's Heartache'' is a series of mixtapes by Bastille. The first was released in February 2012, the second in December 2012, the third in December 2014, and the fourth in December 2018. Part one ''Other People's Heartache'' is a cover EP, self-released by the band Bastille in February 2012. Dan Smith described the concept behind the release as being to "create a fictional film score or film soundtrack using cover versions of songs". It was released online, available free. Smith stated that the group were contacted and asked to take down the tracks. The tracks "Of the Night" and "What Would You Do?" were later released on the compilation album ''All This Bad Blood'' (2013), with the former also released as a single.
