Savage Circus is a German/Swedish power metal band originally formed as a side project by Thomas "Thomen" Stauch before leaving Blind Guardian. History Formation and ''Dreamland Manor'' Savage Circus began when Stauch asked his friend Piet Sielck if he was interested in joining Thomen's new project, which he was. Piet then introduced a Swedish band called Persuader to Thomen. Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a song written by Bennie Benjamin, Horace Ott and Sol Marcus for the American singer-songwriter and pianist Nina Simone, who recorded the first version in 1964. "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" has been covered by many artists. Two of the covers were transatlantic hits, the first in 1965 by The Animals, which was a blues rock version; and a 1977 by the disco group Santa Esmeralda, which was a four-on-the-floor rearrangement. Eunice Kathleen Waymon (February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003), known professionally as Nina Simone (), was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned styles including classical, folk, gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. The sixth of eight children born from a poor family in Tryon, North Carolina, Simone initially aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of a few supporters in her hometown, she enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. Piet Sielck (born 14 November 1964) is a German power metal guitarist, vocalist and producer. He is member of the power metal, power/speed metal band Iron Savior as well as owner of the studio Powerhouse in Hamburg. Early years Born in Hamburg, Germany, Piet started playing piano at the age of eight and bass at the age of ten, but realized after half a year that bass was not his favourite instrument and took up the guitar. Career and development Sielck's first band was Gentry, which he formed along with Kai Hansen. In 1982, he left the band and worked first as a technician, then traveled for one year to Los Angeles. Jens Arnsted (born 4 July 1961), more commonly known as Yenz Leonhardt or Yenz Cheyenne, is a Danish heavy metal musician. He has performed as a vocalist, guitarist and bassist throughout his career, focusing on the latter in recent years. Biography Born in Vordingborg, Leonhardt joined Brats in 1979 as bass player and vocalist along with future Mercyful Fate members Rene Krölmark (Hank Shermann/Hank De Wank), Carsten van der Volsing and Kim Bendix Petersen (King Diamond) and later performed with former Europe drummer Tony Niemistö (Tony Reno) and former King Diamond guitarist Pete Blakk in the short-lived band Geisha as Yenz Cheyenne.
