Odžak ( sr-cyrl, Оџак) is a town and municipality located in Posavina Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the river Sava, from the border with Croatia. The name is derived from Turkish ''Ocak'', during its time as a frontier town of the Ottoman Empire, and means "fireplace" in Turkish and "chimney" in modern Serbo-Croatian. Demographics Population Ethnic composition Economy Before the Breakup of Yugoslavia, over 5,000 people were employed primarily in industry and agriculture. The largest industrial facilities were Strolit with over 700 employees, Energoinvest, Vuntex, and Borovo. Sports The town is home to the volleyball club OK Napredak Odžak. Posavina Canton
The Posavina Canton ( hr, Županija Posavska; bs, Posavski kanton; sr, Посавски кантон) is one of ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the smallest canton with an area of only . The canton is an exclave of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, being bordered by Republika Srpska and Brčko District to the south and the river Sava and Croatia to the north. OK Napredak Odžak (also known as ''HOK Napredak'') is a volleyball club from Odžak, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It currently competes in the Superleague of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the second tier volleyball league of Bosnia and Herzegovina. History The modern club was reestablished by Bosnian Croats after Bosnian War, the nation's war in 1997 and played in the Croatian Herzeg-Bosnia First League of Volleyball. By 2000, they became league champions. In 2001, the club joined the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and began to play in the new national league. In its first season competing, 2001-02, Napredak was national champion and has been one of the top clubs since, as champions again in 2006-07 and finishing third in 2007-08 and second in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
