Odessa Museum Of Regional History
The Odesa Museum of Regional History ( uk, Одеський історико-краєзнавчий музей, translit=Odeskyi istoryko-kraieznavchyi muzei) is a historical museum in Odesa, Ukraine. It is dedicated to the regional history of Odesa. The museum building The museum is located in the centre of the city, in the palatial mansion at 4 Gavannaya Street. The mansion was built in 1876 by Odesa architect, Felix Gonsiorovskiy, for one of the major representatives of the industrial and commercial elite, Alexander Yakovlevich Novikov. Novikov was the grandson of Odesa merchant, Ilya Novikov, owner of a cable factory that was founded in 1806. The architecture of the two-storey mansion, as in previous works of Felix Gonsiorovskiy, is based on the style of the late Renaissance, with a variation of patterns and motifs drawn from the architectural heritage of Italy. José De Ribas
Admiral José de Ribas y Boyons (6 June 1749 – ), known in Italian as Giuseppe de Ribas and in Spanish as José Pascual Domingo de Ribas y Boyons and in Russian as Iosif (Osip) Mikhailovich Deribas (russian: Ио́сиф (О́сип) Миха́йлович Дериба́с), was a Spanish military officer in Russian service. In recognition of de Ribas' famous victory at nearby Khadjibey, the future city's most famous street, Derybasivska, was named after him. Monument to the founders of Odesa, also known as monument to Empress Catherine II of Russia and her companions: José de Ribas, François Sainte de Wollant, Platon Zubov and Grigory Potemkin was a monument located in Odesa, Ukraine, on Katerynska Square. Prince Platon Alexandrovich Zubov (russian: Платон Александрович Зубов; ) was the last of Catherine the Great's favourites and the most powerful man in the Russian Empire during the last years of her reign.
