Odessa High School (Texas)
Odessa High School (OHS) is a public high school located in Odessa, Texas, United States. It is one of three high schools in the Ector County Independent School District. The full name of the school is Odessa Senior High School. This name was originally to differentiate it from Odessa Junior High School (now known as David Crockett Middle School). Normally, the school is commonly referred to as Odessa High or just OHS. In 2011, the school was rated "Academically Acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. On April 17, 2014 Odessa High School was named an AVID National Demonstration School. The student body of Odessa High School is composed of freshmen (grade 9) through seniors (grade 12). Freshmen are allowed to compete in varsity athletics with upper grades in all sports. However, this mainly happens in such sports as cross country, swimming, golf, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball, softball and baseball. Odessa is a village in Schuyler County, New York, United States. The population was 543 at the 2020 census. The Village of Odessa is in the western side of the Town of Catharine near the town line and is shared with the Town of Montour. Odessa is north of Elmira, New York. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers (also written as the San Francisco Forty-Niners) are a professional American football team based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The 49ers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) West division, and play their home games at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, located southeast of San Francisco. Gene Babb
Gene Walter Babb (December 27, 1934 – December 2, 2018) is a former American football fullback and linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Houston Oilers in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football at Austin College. Early years Babb attended Odessa High School before moving on to the University of Texas. He later transferred to Austin College. Besides playing football, he also was a Golden Gloves boxer in college. In 1969, he was inducted into the Austin College Hall of Honor. The school also recognized him by creating the annual "Gene Babb Award" for the outstanding football player. Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level.
