Odessa, Florida
Odessa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,173 at the United States Census, 2000, 2000 census and more than doubled to 7,267 in 2010 United States Census, 2010. Northwest of Tampa, Florida, Tampa, Odessa had been an area of open spaces, ranching, and horse properties. More recently it has seen many suburban property developments as Tampa's population expands. History The Odessa area was first settled in the middle 1800s by the W.M. Mobley Family who migrated from Savannah, Georgia. Odessa was named in the 1880s by Peter Demens, a Russian immigrant who developed the community through the Orange Belt Railway. Later, the railroad came through, running parallel with S.R. 54. Demens also founded St. Petersburg, Florida and named both communities after places he used to go to in his native country. A census-designated place (CDP) is a concentration of population defined by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purposes only. CDPs have been used in each decennial census since 1980 as the counterparts of incorporated places, such as self-governing cities, towns, and villages, for the purposes of gathering and correlating statistical data. Keystone, Florida
Keystone is an unincorporated census-designated place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The Keystone area was first settled in the middle 1800s by the W.M. Mobley Family who migrated from Savannah, Georgia. The region has evolved from citrus and farming into a rural retreat of many lake homes and ranches. The population was 24,039 at the 2010 census, up from 14,627 at the 2000 census. The ZIP Codes encompassing the CDP area are 33556 and 33558. Geography Keystone is located in the northwest corner of Hillsborough County at (28.127550, -82.589117). Tampa Bay Executive Airport
The Tampa Bay Executive Airport was a private airport located on State Road 54 in the town of Odessa, Florida. It was owned and subsequently sold by Dr. James P. Gills. The airport was permanently closed on October 1, 2004, after which the hangars and other buildings were removed from the airpark. The runway remained as of March 2007, marked with several of the standard FAA Xs. Most of it has been cleared in favor of new construction, with about 500 feet remaining on the east end. An industrial park has been slated for construction on the site. As of 2017, the last remaining portion of the runway was removed. Most of the businesses that were based at Tampa Bay Executive have been relocated to other airports in the region.
