1971 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1971 Torneo Descentralizado was the 55th season of the highest division of Peruvian football. The number of teams increased from 14 to 16 teams as four teams gained promotion. The last three teams were relegated from the first division. The national champion was Universitario. ADO, Octavio Espinosa and Porvenir Miraflores were relegated. The Peruvian football league system is a complex system. Though the general outline includes the Liga 1, Liga 2 and Copa Perú. The Copa Perú is very large involving several stages and leagues within it. In addition, the Copa Perú is played within a year. The 1991 Torneo Descentralizado, the top tournament of Peruvian football, was played by 41 teams in the format of Regional Tournaments, whose winner advanced to national finals. 1984 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1984 Torneo Descentralizado is the top category of Peruvian football (soccer), was played by 25 teams. The national champion was Sport Boys. The national championship was divided into two tournaments, the Regional Tournament and the Descentralized Tournament. The winners of each tournament faced off in the final and received the berths for the Copa Libertadores 1985. The Regional Tournament divided the teams into four groups; Metropolitan, North, Central, and South. Teams that not qualified for Descentralised Tournament played on the Intermediary Division against teams from Second Division to gain promotion for next year. Regional Tournament grew to 30 teams for 1985. If any of the Regional Groups winners finished on the top 6 of Descentralised Tournament, that team earned the right to playoff in the Liguilla against Descentralised runner-up for a Copa Libertadores place. 1966 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1966 Torneo Descentralizado was the 50th season of the highest division of Peruvian football. This season marked the first time the Primera División was named the ''Descentralizado'' because teams outside Lima and Callao were invited for the first time making it the first national championship in Peru. The four teams invited to play in the inaugural national championship were Melgar of Arequipa, Octavio Espinosa of Ica, Grau of Piura, and Alfonso Ugarte de Chiclín of Trujillo. The first match of the season was played on 13 August 1966 between Universitario and Mariscal Sucre in the Estadio Nacional. Shortly after this match, the first match to feature a team outside the Lima and Callao region was between Sporting Cristal and Alfonso Ugarte in the same stadium on the same day. Estadio José Picasso Peratta is a multi-use stadium in Ica (city), Ica, Peru. It is currently used by football (soccer) teams Octavio Espinoza de Ica, Octavio Espinoza and Estudiantes de Medicina. Alfonso Ugarte de Chiclín is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Trujillo, Peru. The club is the biggest of Trujillo city, and one of the biggest in La Libertad Province. The club were founded 1 August 1917 and play in the Copa Perú which is the third division of the Peruvian league. The club has a long rivalry with Carlos A.
