Alton Ochsner
Alton Ochsner Sr. (May 4, 1896 – September 24, 1981) was an American surgeon and medical researcher who worked at Tulane University and other New Orleans hospitals before he established The Ochsner Clinic. Now known as Ochsner Medical Center, the clinic is the flagship hospital of Ochsner Health System. Among its many services are heart transplants. Medical career Reared in Kimball, South Dakota, Ochsner was an unlikely hero of Southern medicine. He was recruited to Tulane from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In 1927, he succeeded Rudolph Matas as professor and chairman of the Tulane Department of Surgery. Although Tulane did not have its own hospital at the time, Ochsner succeeded in organizing one of America's premier surgical teaching programs at New Orleans Charity Hospital, an institution that provided invaluable clinical opportunities to Ochsner and his students. Jeffrey Karl Ochsner
Jeffrey Karl Ochsner (born 1950) is an architect, architectural historian, and professor at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is known for his research and writing on American architects Henry Hobson Richardson and Lionel H. Pries, and on Seattle architecture; he has also published articles that link architecture and psychoanalysis. Career Ochsner graduated from Rice University with a B.A. in Architecture in 1973 and a Master of Architecture ( M.Arch.) in 1976. He worked for Gunnar Birkerts and Associates in Michigan in 1973-74. __NOTOC__ Wilhelm-Francis Ochsner (31 March 1899 – 5 December 1990) was a German general in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded several divisions. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Ochsner surrendered to the Red Army in the summer of 1944 in the course of Soviet Operation Bagration. In 1947 he was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for war crimes committed against the citizens of the Soviet Union. Ochsner was released in 1955. Ochsner Baptist Medical Center is a hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. The complex of hospital buildings is located on Napoleon Avenue in Uptown New Orleans. History Formerly known as Southern Baptist Hospital, it was founded in 1926 by the Southern Baptist Convention and led by Dr. Louis Judson Bristow beginning in 1924 during the building of the hospital through 1947 when he retired as Superintendent of the hospital.
