Ochoco Dam
Ochoco Dam is a dam in Central Oregon, east of Prineville, Oregon, Prineville in Crook County, Oregon, in the United States. The dam impounds Ochoco Creek to create Ochoco Reservoir. No hydroelectric power is generated here. The reservoir holds of water for irrigation and flood control, and is also used for fishing and boating. The former Ochoco Lake State Park, with its 22 campsites and lake access, has been re-designated as a county park, and is now run by the Crook County Parks and Recreation District. The original 1920 Ochoco Dam was privately built, high and long. Chronic leaking through its middle section posed a constant threat to the city of Prineville, close downstream, so the dam was replaced by the United States Bureau of Reclamation in 1949. The 2010 Georgian news report hoax was a fake news report aired by Georgian television station Imedi TV on 13 March 2010. The broadcast ''Special Report'' was a weekly programme which was broadcast on Imedi TV on Saturdays at 8:30pm. On 13 March 2010, Imedi brought forward the programme to 7:59pm, the timeslot allocated to ''Chronicle''. ''Chronicle'' which runs at 8:00pm is a major source of information for Imedi TV viewers. The fake news report, which heavily utilised footage from the Russo-Georgian War, began by Imedi accusing the Georgian opposition of the organisation of protests in Tbilisi due to alleged fraud in the Tbilisi city elections which were scheduled for 30 May. Central Oregon is a geographic region in the U.S. state of Oregon and is traditionally considered to be made up of Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties. Other definitions include larger areas, often encompassing areas to the north towards the Columbia River, eastward towards Burns, or south towards Klamath Falls. The Balloon Boy hoax occurred on October 15, 2009, when a homemade helium-filled gas balloon shaped to resemble a silver flying saucer was released into the atmosphere above Fort Collins, Colorado, by Richard and Mayumi Heene. They then claimed that their six-year-old son Falcon was trapped inside it. Authorities confirmed the balloon reached during its 90-minute flight. The event attracted worldwide attention, and Falcon was nicknamed "Balloon Boy" in the media. National Guard helicopters and local police pursued the balloon.
