Oceans Will Rise
''Oceans Will Rise'' is the third and final album by Montreal indie rock band the Stills, released August 19, 2008. In late 2007, Toronto-based record label Arts & Crafts signed the band to a worldwide recording deal. Once again working with producer Gus Van Go, the group felt, according to vocalist Tim Fletcher, "a raw energy of inspiration" during the new album's recording efforts that was absent in previous sessions. Two tracks, "Being Here" and "Rooibos/Palm Wine Drinkard", were first available for download via '' Spin'' magazine's website. ''Pitchfork'' noted that the album "reconciled the mannered 1980s sound that first got them noticed with the open-hearted earthiness of their sophomore effort". The Stills
The Stills were a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2011. History The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Tim Fletcher, guitarist Gregory Paquet, bassist Olivier Corbeil and drummer Dave Hamelin. The band members had known each other since the age of 12 and played in various bands prior to forming the Stills, including Chinatown, Amentum, and The Undercovers. Their EP, ''Rememberese,'' was released on June 17, 2003, by Vice Records (and in the UK by 679 Recordings), followed by their debut album; both were produced by Gus Van Go. ''Logic Will Break Your Heart'' was released in North America on October 21, 2003, and in the UK on February 23, 2004, and included the singles "Lola Stars and Stripes", "Changes Are No Good" and "Still in Love Song". Alexander Keith's Brewery
Alexander Keith's is a brewery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is part of Anheuser-Busch InBev, a holdings company based in Leuven, Belgium, which owns over 400 beer brands globally. The brewery was founded in 1820 by Alexander Keith who had immigrated from Scotland three years previously. In 1928, the business was sold to Oland Brewery, which was in turn sold to the Labatt Brewing Company. Following a number of mergers and acquisitions, Labatt's is now part of Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since 1928, parent companies kept the brand alive, and by the 1990s Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale (IPA) was the most popular beer in Nova Scotia. A number of other styles is also marketed. ''Defying Gravity'' is a multi-nationally produced space travel television science fiction drama series which first aired on August 2, 2009 on ABC and CTV and was canceled in October 2009. Set in the year 2052, the series follows eight astronauts (four women and four men) from four countries on a six-year space mission through the Solar System, during which they are monitored from Earth via a real-time communication system. The Juno Awards, more popularly known as the JUNOS, are awards presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies. Tim Fletcher
Timothy Fletcher (born 1978) is an English–Canadian musician who was the vocalist and guitarist for Montreal-based band the Stills, which disbanded in 2011. Born in Montreal, Fletcher met his future bandmates at the age of 15 before forming the Stills in 2000. Along with a number of the Stills, he previously played in an early incarnation of the band Chinatown, and was also a member of heavy metal band Amentum. Fletcher and Dave Hamelin were the principal songwriters in the Stills. On the band's first album, ''Logic Will Break Your Heart'', Fletcher was the lead singer. However, when guitarist Greg Paquet left the band and former drummer Hamelin took up lead guitar, Fletcher's role as frontman was diminished on the second record, ''Without Feathers''. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock".
