Ocean Flower Island
Ocean Flower Island (), or Haihua Island, is an under-construction, artificial archipelago located off the north coast of Danzhou, Hainan, China, west of the Yangpu Peninsula. The project, being built by the Evergrande Group, will consist of three independent islets with a total area of . The project has received an investment of 160 billion RMB (US$24 billion) and was scheduled for completion in 2020. During the 2021 National Day, the island attracted over 200,000 visitors. Corruption and demolition order Hainan politician Zhang Qi, who was later convicted of corruption, approved land reclamation for the island in conflict with environmental protection laws. The construction of the island caused damages to coral reefs and oyster populations. The boundaries of the environmental protection area around the island were later restored. Hainan uses a slightly different administrative system from other administrative regions of China. Most other provinces are divided entirely into prefecture-level divisions, each of which is then divided entirely into county-level divisions, which generally do not come directly under the province. In Hainan, nearly all county-level divisions (the eight districts excepted) come directly under the province. This method of division is due to Hainan's relatively sparse population. Danzhou
Danzhou () is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of the Chinese island province of Hainan. Although called a "city", Danzhou administers a large area which was called Dan County or Danxian () until 1993. The administrative seat and urban center of Danzhou is Nada Town, which is often colloquially referred to as Danzhou city. Danzhou was upgraded from a county-level city into a prefecture-level city in February 2015. The Yangpu Peninsula () is a peninsula located in Danzhou, on the northwestern coast of Hainan Province, China. It has a coastline containing many natural harbors. An expressway connects the peninsula to Haikou, the capital of the province, which is to the east. Geology It has plentiful deposits of titanium. Yangpu Economic Development Zone The zone is an area covering . that contains the Port of Yangpu, an oil refinery, a petroleum commercial reserve base, a 448,000 K power station, and the town of Yangpu. The area is Hainan's largest economic zone and the first development zone approved for lease to foreign investors by the Chinese government. Zhang Qi (; born March 1961) is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in Hainan province. He was investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI - the party's internal disciplinary body) and the National Supervisory Commission, the highest anti-corruption agency of China, in September 2019. Previously he served as Party chief of Haikou, capital of Hainan province. Zhang is the first senior official who was placed under investigation in Hainan since the Communist Party of China's 19th National Congress in late 2017 and the fourth incumbent provincial level official was sacked for graft since then. Palm Islands
The Palm Islands are three artificial islands, Palm Jumeirah, Deira Island and Palm Jebel Ali, on the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Palm Islands were conceived around the same time as The World, another artificial island project in Dubai. Nakheel is the real estate developer of these artificial islands. Creation of the islands started in 2001 ending in 2006 to 2007, which has had a significant impact on ocean sediments and wildlife in the area.
