Occupy Faith
Occupy Faith is an ally of the Occupy movement that supports the movement due to its members religious and spiritual values. Groups are established by activists and religious leaders. In the United States, in 2011, a national gathering was held in New York City at the Judson Memorial Church. Representatives attended from a diverse set of spiritual and religious communities. A result of the gathering was a statement about the way members of Occupy Faith would be involved in Occupy Wall Street, specifically about having an open democracy, affordable housing, quality education, and other values. Groups from cities, like Occupy Faith DC, join in Occupy movement events. Their viewpoints are based upon their values, like non-violence and realigning the political power of the top 1% of the country. Occupy Movement
The Occupy movement was an international populist socio-political movement that expressed opposition to social and economic inequality and to the perceived lack of "real democracy" around the world. It aimed primarily to advance social and economic justice and different forms of democracy. The movement has had many different scopes, since local groups often had different focuses, but its prime concerns included how large corporations (and the global financial system) control the world in a way that disproportionately benefits a minority, undermines democracy and causes instability. The first Occupy protest to receive widespread attention, Occupy Wall Street in Zuccotti Park, Lower Manhattan, began on 17 September 2011. Judson Memorial Church
The Judson Memorial Church is located on Washington Square South between Thompson Street and Sullivan Street, near Gould Plaza, opposite Washington Square Park, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA and with the United Church of Christ. The church sanctuary, its campanile tower and the attached Judson Hall were designated landmarks by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1966, and were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Occupy Wall Street (OWS) was a protest Social movement, movement against economic inequality and the Campaign finance, influence of money in politics that began in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City's Financial District, Manhattan, Wall Street financial district, in September 2011. Community organizing is a process where people who live in proximity to each other or share some common problem come together into an organization that acts in their shared self-interest.
