Ocate is an unincorporated community located in Mora County, New Mexico, United States. The community is located at the junction of State Routes 442 and 120, west-northwest of Wagon Mound. State Road 120 (NM 120) is a state road in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The route traverses four counties: Colfax, Mora, Harding, and Union, and is the longest state road in New Mexico. Colfax County, New Mexico
Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,750. Its county seat is Raton. It is south from the Colorado state line. This county was named for Schuyler Colfax (18231885), seventeenth Vice President of the United States under U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant. Colfax County is the home of Philmont Scout Ranch and the NRA Whittington Center. History Colfax County was originally part of Taos County, one of the original nine counties created by the New Mexico Territory in 1852. Cooks Peak Fire
The Cooks Peak Fire was a wildfire that burned north of the community of Ocate in Mora County and Colfax County, in the U.S. state of New Mexico, as part of the 2022 New Mexico wildfire season. , the fire burned and was 100% contained on the evening of May 13, 2022. Wagon Mound, New Mexico
Wagon Mound is a village in Mora County, New Mexico, Mora County, New Mexico, United States. It is named after and located at the foot of a butte called Wagon Mound, which was a landmark for covered wagon trains and traders going up and down the Santa Fe Trail and is now Wagon Mound National Historic Landmark.
