Obedience (album)
''Obedience'' is the third EP by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was recorded and mixed at The Abyss in December 1999 and released on February 7, 2000. "Obedience" and "Funeral Bitch" were re-recorded for the band's 2001 album, ''La Grande Danse Macabre'' (the former being retitled "Obedience unto Death"). Peter Tägtgren, who mixed the band's previous efforts since 1996's '' Heaven Shall Burn... When We Are Gathered'', was not involved with this recording; instead mixing was handled by Tommy Tägtgren. Peter Tägtgren returned to mixing Marduk's recordings in December 2000 when the band began recording ''La Grande Danse Macabre''. ''Obedience'' was the first Marduk release by Regain Records Regain Records was a Swedish-based independent record label. The label predominantly released death metal and black metal albums. Marduk is a Swedish black metal band formed in Norrköping in 1990. The band released their debut full-length album, '' Dark Endless'', in 1992 on No Fashion Records. Their name is derived from the Ancient Babylonian deity, Marduk. History Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson, the band's guitarist, formed Marduk with the intention of being the "most blasphemous band in the world". Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Regain Records
Regain Records was a Swedish-based independent record label. The label predominantly released death metal and black metal albums. Regain Records was founded from what remained of the former label, Wrong Again Records, by Per Gyllenbäck in 1997. Wrong Again Records had such bands as In Flames, Cryptopsy, Arch Enemy, and Naglfar among its ranks. Regain Records' first two releases were Deranged's '' High on Blood'' and Embraced's '' Amorous Anathema'', in late 1997. In the first two years of operation, business for the label was slow, due to lack of proper distribution. It was not until Regain Records re-released the first two in Flames albums, ''Lunar Strain'' and '' Subterranean'', which were previously released under the name Wrong Again Records, that the label began to prosper. ''Panzer Division Marduk'' is the sixth studio album by Swedish black metal band Marduk (band), Marduk. ''La Grande Danse Macabre'' is the seventh studio album by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was recorded and mixed at The Abyss in December 2000 and released on March 5, 2001, by Regain Records. ''La Grande Danse Macabre'' is the last Marduk album with Fredrik Andersson on drums. The Century Media release has different cover art, one found on T-shirts. The album's title is French for "The Great Dance of Death". The title track ends with a quote from Johan Olof Wallins poem "Angel of Death". Themes On ''La Grande Danse Macabre'', the theme is death. Peter Tägtgren
Alf Peter Tägtgren (born 3 June 1970) is a Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is the founder, main songwriter, lead vocalist, and guitarist of death metal band Hypocrisy as well as the industrial metal band Pain in which he is the only member. He is also the owner of ''The Abyss'' recording studio and the co-founder of Lindemann, a music project between Tägtgren and Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann. Tägtgren left Lindemann in 2020. Music career Tägtgren started playing drums at the age of nine and later learned to play guitar, bass and keyboard. After Tägtgren's first band Conquest disbanded, he emigrated to the United States.
