Oakland Senior High School (also known as O-High or OHS) is a public high school in Oakland, California. Established in 1869, it is the oldest high school in Oakland and the sixth oldest high school in the state. History Oakland High was first located at 12th Street and Market Street, then at 12th and Jefferson Street. It has been at its current location at the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Park Boulevard since 1928. The building that stood before its current manifestation was known as the "Pink Prison" or "Pink Palace." The stairway leading up from Park Boulevard is what remains of the exterior. The lamps in the commons are original fixtures. What is now the football field and basketball courts was once classrooms and a huge theater. The school colors are royal blue and white. The building was torn down in 1980 to be rebuilt as a safer structure in the event of a major earthquake. A new football/soccer/baseball field was inaugurated in the spring of 2006. Oakland High School (OHS) is a public high school that belongs to the Oakland School District. It is the only high school in the city of Oakland, Oregon, United States. Academics In 2008, 80% of the school's seniors received a high school diploma. Of 40 students, 32 graduated, three dropped out, two received a modified diploma, and three were still in high school the following year. Athletics and Extracurriculars Oakland's boys' basketball team won state championships in 2000 2006, and 2013. The 2013 team consisted of seniors Colton Reber, Logan O'Hara, Connor Dolan, Austin Collins, and Jordan Bailey; juniors Toby Blum, Michael Yard, Zack VanDeHey, Jeb Harper, Joey Dixon-Magnus, Austin Nix, and Austin Baimbridge; and sophomores Roy Benzel and Hayden Snow. Oakland is a city in Coles County, Illinois, United States. The population was 739 at the 2020 census. History Oakland, formerly known as Independence, was platted in 1833. Pioneer doctor and abolitionist Hiram Rutherford moved to Oakland in 1840 to start his practice in the young town. He became a prominent citizen. Rutherford is best known for his involvement in the 1847 Matson Trial, which involved his friend Abraham Lincoln. A Kentucky slave owner, General Robert Matson, annually brought slaves to work on his land near Oakland. One year, a family of slaves ran away from the farm and took refuge with Rutherford and Gideon Ashmore. Matson sued the men for harboring slaves; Rutherford and Ashmore countered that the slaves could not legally be held in a free state. Rutherford attempted to have Lincoln represent him in the case, but Lincoln had already agreed to represent the slave owner. Matson, represented by Lincoln, lost the case in Coles County court. Oakland High School (OHS) is located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, U.S. It has approximately 2,300 students. OHS is part of the fourth largest school system in the state. OHS serves eastern Murfreesboro and the rural areas of northeastern and eastern Rutherford County, including Lascassas, Milton, and Kittrell. History OHS opened in 1972 along with a sister school Riverdale High School (RHS). The schools were the first two high schools built after Central Magnet School in the Rutherford County school system. While the school began as a traditional high school, OHS would add specialized programs to its curriculum, such as the AP program, the IB program, and vocational programs like the Mechatronics program. Oakland Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic college preparatory school for girls, located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Oakland Mills High School
Oakland Mills High School was established in 1973 as one of the first high schools to serve the planned developed new U.S. town of Columbia, Maryland area, established by James Rouse and his Rouse Company in 1967 in Howard County, midway between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. It is part of the Howard County Public Schools system (HCPSS). The building had its first renovation in 1991, and another in 1998. A new addition was put onto OMHS in 2004, the "new wing," raising its total capacity to 1,400 students. Recently, both Oakland Mills High School and Oakland Mills Middle School were affected by a mold issue which required renovations to both schools. While Oakland Mills High has not needed more renovations, after Oakland Mills Middle suffered a fire early January 2016, it was discovered that the mold issue was not solved and required more renovations. Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) is a visual and performing arts charter school in Oakland, California, United States.
