Conroe Independent School District
Conroe Independent School District (CISD) is a school district in Montgomery County, Texas. The district's headquarters are located in the Deane L. Sadler Administration/Technology Center in Conroe. The CISD area, which covers , is part of the Lone Star College System (formerly the North Harris Montgomery Community College District). In 2005, CISD enrolled displaced Louisianans from the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina who were residing in the Conroe ISD boundaries. CISD has its own police department of over 41 officers. As of 2007, CISD PD is run by Chief William Harness. For the 2018–2019 school year, the district received a score of 89 out of 100 from the Texas Education Agency. Tamina is an unincorporated community in southern Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Tamina is located along the Missouri Pacific line, located east of Interstate 45 and south of the city of Conroe. James H. Berry promoted the community and named it after Tammany Hall, New York City. The letter writer submitting the name to the postal department spelled the name "Tamina." The name is pronounced "Tammany" by some of the community's older residents. Grand Oaks High School is a high school in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas, in the United States. The school opened in August 2018 as the sixth high school within Conroe Independent School District. The school was built to alleviate overcrowding at Oak Ridge High School. Demographics The school enrolled 1,241 students in 9th and 10th grade in its first year. The school's capacity is approximately 3,000 students. History On November 3, 2015, voters within Conroe ISD's attendance zone voted in favor of a $487 million bond. The Conroe Independent School District's Academy of Science and Technology, located in The Woodlands, Texas is a magnet school in science and technology; it is also a member of the National Consortium of Specialized STEM Schools (NCSSS). It was founded at Oak Ridge High School in 1987 with the first graduates in 1991. The AST relocated to The Woodlands College Park High School in stages from 2005 to 2007. Chateau Woods is an unincorporated community in southern Montgomery County, Texas, United States, that was formerly an incorporated municipality. It is located east of Interstate 45, approximately south of Conroe and north of Houston. History Residential development of the area began in the 1960s with the building of a subdivision known as Lake Chateau Woods. A civic club was formed during the late 1960s that eventually pursued incorporation to improve infrastructure in the area. Residents voted in favor of incorporating the community on December 6, 1975.
