Oak Grove High School is a combined middle school and high school. Its location is fifteen miles northwest of downtown Bessemer, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. It is physically located in the unincorporated community of Oak Grove for which the school is named. Oak Grove is one of fourteen high schools in the Jefferson County School System. School colors are red, white, and black but the athletic teams are called the Tigers. Oak Grove competes in AHSAA Class 4A athletics. Student profile Enrollment in grades 6-12 for the 2015-2016 school year was approximately 865 students. Oak Grove High School was a public secondary school located in unincorporated area, unincorporated Pulaski County, Arkansas, near North Little Rock, Arkansas, North Little Rock. Oak Grove High School served grades 7 through 12 and was administered by the Pulaski County Special School District. Since 1967, Oak Grove had been accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI). Oak Grove's official colors were green and white (color), white and the school's mascot was a hornet. The 2010-2011 school year was the last year for Oak Grove to operate. The school mascot was transferred to the new Maumelle High School which was built a few miles away in Maumelle, AR. The name "Oak Grove" and the school's colors did not transfer. History Oak Grove first came to light in 2012, when the Davidson County Schools Board of Education approved a middle school in the Oak Grove area, to help with overcrowding at North Davidson and Ledford Middle schools. At the time, North Davidson High and Ledford Senior were past max student capacity. The long-awaited news came when the board approved for a new high school to be built near the current Oak Grove Middle School, and a bid was formally accepted in November 2015, for Samet to start construction.
