OFC Nations Cup
The OFC Nations Cup is an international association football tournament held among the OFC member nations. It was held every two years from 1996 to 2004; before 1996 there were two other tournaments held at irregular intervals, under the name Oceania Nations Cup. No competition was held in 2006, but in the 2008 edition, which also acted as a qualification tournament for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and for a play-off for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the New Zealand national football team emerged as winners. Historically, a very large gulf separated Australia and New Zealand from the smaller island competitors, and little attention was paid to the tournament by the rest of the football world. In fact, after the first eight editions the trophy had been won only by Australia and New Zealand. Alan Marley
Alan Marley is a former association football player who represented New Zealand. Marley made his full All Whites debut in a 4–1 win over New Caledonia on 17 September 1972 and ended his international playing career with 12 A-international caps and 3 goals to his credit, his final cap in a 0–2 loss to Iraq on 13 March 1973. Marley only missed one A-international game between debut and his last selection and scored in three successive games in a four-day period in February 1973. Tim Cahill
Timothy Filiga Cahill (; born 6 December 1979) is an Australian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder but also played as a striker on many occasions. A box-to-box midfielder, Cahill became recognised for "his aggressive and powerful approach and his ability to head the ball in the penalty area". Cahill has scored 50 goals in 108 caps between 2004 and 2018 and is regarded as one of the greatest Australian footballers of all time. He currently works as a pundit for BBC Sport and Sky Sports. In 1997, Cahill left Sydney for England to play professionally; there he was signed by Millwall on a free transfer from Sydney United. Joel Porter
Joel William Porter (born 25 December 1978) is an Australian football (soccer) player. Club career Australia Before joining Hartlepool United, Porter had previously played for Croydon Kings, West Adelaide, Melbourne Knights FC and Sydney Olympic. During his final season at Sydney Olympic Porter managed to score 6 goals in 19 starts, having played many of those matches as a midfielder. Hartlepool United Porter decided to look to Europe in a bid to find a club. Porter almost signed for Rayo Vallecano but the Spanish La Liga club were unprepared to take a gamble by signing him after doubts arouse over his fitness. After previously having trials in England with Wigan Athletic and Sunderland, before visa problems prevented them, Porter finally signed for Hartlepool, as manager Neale Cooper added the Aussie to his ranks. Mick Waitt
Michael Hugh Waitt (born 25 June 1960) is an English association football player and coach, who managed the New Zealand national football team. Waitt played in the Football League for Notts County and Lincoln City FC. He took charge of the New Zealand national side June 2002. New Zealand won eleven, drew two and lost ten of his 23 games in charge. He now works for Quokkas. Clayton Zane
Clayton Zane (born 12 July 1977) is an Australian association football coach and former player, who played as a striker. In the 2001 season, he was the top scorer and awarded the Kniksen award as Striker of the Year in Norway. He earned 14 caps for the Australia national team, scoring six goals. His last club as a player was R.S.C. Anderlecht, where a two-year-long injury prematurely ended his career in late 2005. Following his retirement from playing Zane worked as a coach at Newcastle Jets, serving as a head coach in 2014. Frank Farina
Frank Farina OAM (born 5 September 1964) is an Australian football (soccer) coach and former player who played as a forward. His playing career spanned Australia, Belgium, France, Italy and England, and was a major player for the Australian National Team in the late 1980s and 1990s, as well as managing the national team in the early 2000s. Career Born in Liverpool, Dugdale spent his early career with Kirkby Town, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Kris Trajanovski (born 19 February 1972 in Geelong, Victoria) is an Australian association football player and coach. Playing career Club career After playing with Altona Magic in the Victorian State League, Trajanovski attended the Australian Institute of Sport in 1989. In 1991, he joined National Soccer League team Preston Makedonia. He then joined Rockdale Ilinden in the New South Wales State League in 1992. Trajanovski joined Hong Kong team Happy Valley for the final six matches of the 1992–93 Hong Kong First Division League season. Eddie Thomson
Eddie Thomson (25 February 1947 – 21 February 2003) was a Scottish association football player and coach, who played as a defender. He played for Heart of Midlothian and Aberdeen in Scotland, San Antonio Thunder in the United States and Sydney City in Australia. Staying in Australia, he coached Sydney City and Sydney Olympic before working with the Australia national team. Initially assistant coach, he was subsequently head coach from 1990 to 1996. His last coaching position was with Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan.
