Oxford is a city in Calhoun, Talladega, and Cleburne counties in the State of Alabama. The population was 22,069 at the 2020 census,. Oxford is one of two principal cities of and included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area, and it is the largest city in Calhoun County by population. History Founded in the early 1850s, Oxford was the first city in Calhoun County to be incorporated, in 1852. The name "Oxford" was due to the presence of a narrow crossing of Chocolocco Creek that allowed farmers to ford cattle from one side of the creek to the other. Since 1970, Oxford has annexed large amounts of land to the south and west, including the communities of Coldwater and Bynum. Oxford High School is a public high school in Oxford, Massachusetts. The school is operated by the Oxford Public Schools district. Before the new building on Carbuncle Drive, the original Oxford High on Main Street was designed in 1906 by the architecture firm Cutting, Carleton & Cutting. Curriculum Oxford High offers three levels of courses for its students: college and career prep (CCSP), honors (H), and Advanced Placement (AP). For the latter, the school offers AP courses in biology, calculus, English literature, and United States history. All students are required to complete four years of English, mathematics, and physical education, as well as three years of social studies and science and two years of either Spanish or French. Oxford High School is a coed public secondary institution located in Oxford, Michigan within the Oxford Community Schools district. The school draws from an area of The Village of Oxford and Oxford Township, as well as portions of Orion Township, Dryden Township, Metamora Township and Addison Township. It is one of the largest districts, geographically, in southeastern lower Michigan. History The current site for Oxford High School opened in 2004. Prior to that, the current site was a middle school. When renovations were completed, the middle school and high school swapped buildings, with the middle school now located in the old high school building on Lakeville Road. Oxford High School (OHS) is a public high school in Oxford, Mississippi. It educates 1,210 students in grades nine through twelve. It is part of the Oxford School District. Its boundary includes almost all of Oxford, the University census-designated place, and some unincorporated areas.
