Oviedo is one of 8 ''comarcas'' of the province and autonomous community of Asturias in Spain. The comarca is formed by 21 municipalities (''municipios''). Comarcas Of Asturias
Asturias, an autonomous community in Spain, is divided into eight comarcas. These ''comarcas'' are not an administrative division of the autonomous community, and are only used as a system to homogenize the statistical data made by the Principality of Asturias. The ''comarcas'' in Spain are a grouping of municipalities that are encouraged (but not required) to work together to achieve objectives. ''Comarca'' is a Spanish word roughly equivalent to the English word county. Miranda (Asturias)
Belmonte de Miranda ( Asturian: ''Miranda'') is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is bordered on the north by Salas, on the east by Grado, to the south by Somiedo and Teverga, and on the west by Tineo. Geography The municipality is crossed from south to north by the basin of the river Pigüeña, a trout-rich tributary of the Narcea, the river which forms the northern border with Salas, and which is usually fished for salmon. The southeast part of the municipality forms part of the Somiedo Natural Park. In it are a great variety of native forest species: oaks, chestnuts, and so forth. Salas, Asturias
Salas (also known as San Martin de Salas) is a town and ''concejo'' (municipality) in the Principality of Asturias. It lies on the road from San Sebastián to Santiago de Compostela, and on a small subtributary of the river Narcea. It is bordered on the north by Valdés, Cudillero and Pravia, to south by Belmonte de Miranda, to the east by Pravia, Candamo and Grado, and to the west by Tineo and Valdés. Yernes Y Tameza
Yernes y Tameza is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is situated in the east-central zone of the principality, between mountains high along the Cubia River. It is bordered on the west, north, and northeast by Grado, on the southeast by Proaza, and on the south by Teverga. The municipality has an abrupt topography, most notable in the peak Caldoveiru (1,357 m) and the Tameza River, which crosses the municipality from south to north. Teverga
Teverga ( Asturian: Teberga) is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. It is bordered on the north by Belmonte de Miranda, Grado, Yernes y Tameza, and Proaza; to the south by León province, to the west by Somiedo and to the east by Quirós and Proaza. Formerly a mining area, now its economy is based on agriculture and emerging tourism. The tourism is based on the area's beauty and historical interest. The peak Sobia is distinguished by its impressive vertical walls of limestone and its flat top. The collegiate church of San Pedro, in a high medieval style, dates from between 1069 and 1076. One can explore the mountains and the 12-km long Huerta Cave, the Senda del Oso bicycle path, or a museum of prehistory. Quirós
Quirós is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Spain. To the southeast is the municipality of Lena, to the south lies the Autonomous Community of León, to the northeast Riosa and Morcín, to the north is Santo Adriano, to the northwest is Proaza, and to the west is Teverga.
