Otter Mountain
Otter Mountain is a prominent glaciated summit located in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. It is situated northeast of Stewart, British Columbia, and the nearest higher peak is Mount Pattullo, to the north. Otter ranks as the 23rd most topographically prominent summit of Canada. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above Bitter Creek Valley in . This mountain's toponym was adopted as "Mount Otter" on 24 July 1945, and officially renamed Otter Mountain on 5 November 1953 by the Geographical Names Board of Canada. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains west into Bitter Creek which is a tributary of the Bear River, or east to Nelson Creek which is part of the Nass River drainage basin, and all ultimately finds its way to the Inside Passage. The Coast Mountains (french: La chaîne Côtière) are a major mountain range in the Pacific Coast Ranges of western North America, extending from southwestern Yukon through the Alaska Panhandle and virtually all of the Coast of British Columbia south to the Fraser River. Surface runoff (also known as overland flow) is the flow of water occurring on the ground surface when excess rainwater, stormwater, meltwater, or other sources, can no longer sufficiently rapidly infiltrate in the soil. Two-thousanders Of British Columbia
Two-thousanders are mountains that have a height of at least 2,000 metres above sea level, but less than 3,000 metres. The term is used in Alpine circles, especially in Europe (e.g. German: ''Zweitausender''). Cambria Icefield
The Cambria Icefield is an icefield in the Boundary Ranges of the Coast Mountains in northwestern British Columbia, Canada, located southeast of Stewart. Climate Based on the Köppen climate classification, the Cambria Icefield is located in a subarctic climate zone of western North America. Most weather fronts originate in the Pacific Ocean, and travel east toward the Coast Mountains where they are forced upward by the range (Orographic lift), causing them to drop their moisture in the form of rain or snowfall. As a result, the icefield experiences high precipitation, especially during the winter months in the form of snowfall. Temperatures can drop below −20 °C with wind chill factors below −30 °C. Orographic lift occurs when an air mass is forced from a low elevation to a higher elevation as it moves over rising terrain. The Inside Passage (french: Passage Intérieur) is a coastal route for ships and boats along a network of passages which weave through the islands on the Pacific Northwest coast of the North American Fjordland. The route extends from southeastern Alaska in the United States, through western British Columbia in Canada, to northwestern Washington state in the United States.
