Ospizio Bernina (Rhaetian Railway Station)
Ospizio Bernina railway station is a station on the Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway. The station lies on the shores of Lago Bianco, near the Bernina Pass, between the Engadin and the valley of Poschiavo, in Graubünden. It is named after the hostel (historically, ''ospizio'' in Italian) that lies on the road pass, 50 metres above the station. Administratively, the area belongs to the municipality of Poschiavo. Rhaetian Railway ABe 8/12
The Rhaetian Railway ABe 8/12, which is also known as the '' Allegra'', is a class of dual voltage metre gauge three car multiple unit trains of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), which is the main railway network in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. The class is so named under the Swiss locomotive and railcar classification system. According to that system, ''ABe 8/12'' denotes an electric railcar train with first and second class compartments, and a total of 12 axles, eight of which are drive axles. Technical details The ABe 8/12 trains were delivered between 2009 and 2011. This is a list of highest passenger railways in operation in Europe. It only includes non-cable railways whose culminating point is over 1,200 metres above sea level. Most of them are located in the Alps, where two railways, the Jungfrau and Gornergrat railways, exceed 3,000 metres and nine other exceed 2,000 metres, including four railway crossings. Bernina Pass
The Bernina Pass (el. .) ( it, Passo del Bernina) is a high mountain pass in the Bernina Range of the Alps, in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons) in eastern Switzerland. It connects the famous resort town of St. Moritz in the Engadin valley with the Italian-speaking Val Poschiavo, which ends in the Italian town of Tirano in Valtellina.
