Oscar L. Auf Der Heide
Oscar Louis Auf der Heide (December 8, 1874 – March 29, 1945) was an American businessman and Democratic Party politician who represented New Jersey in the United States House of Representatives for five terms from 1925 to 1935. Early life and career Auf der Heide was born in New York City on December 8, 1874 and attended the public schools. He moved with his parents to West New York, New Jersey in 1887, where he later was engaged in the real estate business. Political career He was a member of the town council from 1899–1902, and was a member and president of the board of education of the West New York School District in 1903-04. Auf der Heide was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1908-11. He served on the board of assessors of West New York in 1912 and 1913 and was Mayor of West New York, New Jersey from 1914-17. Peter Angelo Cavicchia (May 22, 1879 – September 11, 1967) was an American Republican Party politician from New Jersey, who served in the United States House of Representatives, where he represented Essex County, including The Oranges and parts of Newark. Biography Peter Angelo Cavicchia immigrated from Italy to the United States in 1888 with his parents, settling in Newark, New Jersey. He attended and graduated from New Jersey's public school system, later graduating from the American International College in 1906 and from New York University School of Law in 1908. He was admitted to the bar in 1909 and began practicing in Newark. He also served as director and counsel for several building and loan associations and was appointed supervisor of inheritance tax of Essex County in 1917. North Bergen is a township in the northern part of Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the township had a total population of 63,361. Hoboken Cemetery, North Bergen
The Hoboken Cemetery is located at 5500 Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey, United States. in the New Durham section. It was owned by the City of Hoboken. The Flower Hill Cemetery borders it on two sides. Although one may have the sense of a well groomed and cared for cemetery when first arriving at the Hoboken Cemetery, just a short walk in any direction and you will find a different story. It is bordered by Flower Hill Cemetery. The Secaucus Junction was built on land that was partially the Hudson County Burial Grounds. The exhumed bodies were to be re-interred at the Hoboken Cemetery but that was cancelled when the cemetery was found to have been recycling older full graves that did not have tombstones, and selling them as virgin plots. The cemetery said it has no record of any bodies being buried in those plots. New Jersey's 14th Congressional District
New Jersey's 14th congressional district in the House of Representatives was eliminated after the 1990 Census. As a result of the congressional apportionment performed after this Census, New Jersey lost one seat and was reduced to thirteen seats in the House of Representatives. New Jersey had gained a fourteenth seat following the 1930 Census, and had as many as fifteen seats following the 1960 and 1970 Censuses. After 1980, New Jersey was back down to fourteen seats. In the 1980s, the district covered an area surrounding Jersey City, and was represented for seven terms by Frank Guarini.
