Orivesi–Jyväskylä Railway
The Orivesi–Jyväskylä railway ( fi, Orivesi–Jyväskylä-rata, sv, Orivesi–Jyväskylä-banan), also called the Jämsä railway ( fi, Jämsän rata, sv, Jämsäbanan) is a 1,524 mm (5 ft) railway in Finland, running between the Orivesi and Jyväskylä stations. History Orivesi to Jämsä The section from Orivesi to Jämsä was ordered to be built in 1938. The approval was influenced by Rudolf Walden, who promised that the Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat (now UPM-Kymmene) factories would contribute towards covering the costs. Construction began in 1939 and continued during the war years, partly with labour from prisoners of war. The long line to Jämsä was completed in 1950 and the extension to the Jämsänkoski mills, the costs of which were split half and half between the state and Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat, followed in 1951. Muurame
Muurame is a municipality of Finland, located south-west of Jyväskylä. Muurame itself is located between two lakes, Lake Päijänne and Lake Muuratjärvi. These two lakes are connected to each other via River Muurame. All together there are 37 lakes in Muurame. Biggest lakes beside Päijänne are Muuratjärvi and Lake Kuusjärvi. River Muurame streams through the population center of Muurame. Muurame was founded in 1921. The Muurame church is of Alvar Aalto's design, being his first church design to be completed in 1929. It was comprehensively restored in 2016 to its original design. Name ''Muurame'' is a dialectal word referring to the cloudberry, which also can be seen in the municipal coat of arms. Tampere Railway Station
Tampere Central Station is a Functionalism (architecture), functionalist building in Tampere, Finland, designed by Eero Seppälä and Otto Flodin, completed in 1936. The station is one of the most important railway stations in Finland. In 2015, the Tampere Central Station was the second busiest railway station in Finland in terms of numbers of passengers, after the Helsinki Central Station. The 36-metre clock tower was later added because the Finnish railway bureau required it (its total height from ground level is about 50 metres). Jämsänkoski
Jämsänkoski is a former town and municipality of Finland in the Central Finland region. It is located near Lake Päijänne and the Jämsänjoki river. The town had a population of 7,351 in 2008. It covered an area of 448.67 km² of which 48.02 km² is water. The population density was 16.9 inhabitants per km². The municipality of Koskenpää was consolidated with Jämsänkoski in 1969, while Jämsänkoski was consolidated with Jämsä in 2009. History Linnasenmäki, the remains of an Iron Age hillfort, are located in the southern part of Jämsänkoski near the paper mill. The area may have had Stone Age settlement as well. Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat Oy was a Finnish forest industry company which was created in 1920 and the paper company formed UPM-Kymmene PLC together with Kymmene in 1996. History United Paper Mills Ltd. was created in summer 1920 when Ab Simpele Jämsänkoski Oy and Myllykoski Träsliperi Ab merged. Later Ab Walkiakoski Oy that is located in Valkeakoski was merged with the company. In the management of all the companies the large owner was general Rudolf Walden.
