Order Of Service Merit
The Order of Service Merit (Hangul: 근정훈장) is one of South Korea's orders of merit. It is awarded by the President of South Korea to public officials, private school teachers, and special post office employees for "outstanding meritorious services by applying himself/herself to his/her duties." The Order of Merit (french: link=no, Ordre du Mérite) is an order of merit for the Commonwealth realms, recognising distinguished service in the armed forces, science, art, literature, or for the promotion of culture. Established in 1902 by King Edward VII, admission into the order remains the personal gift of its Sovereign—currently Edward VII's great-great-grandson, Charles III—and is restricted to a maximum of 24 living recipients from the Commonwealth realms, plus a limited number of honorary members. While all members are awarded the right to use the post-nominal letters ''OM'' and wear the badge of the order, the Order of Merit's precedence among other honours differs between countries. Yeon Cheon Oh
Yeon Cheon Oh (born 1951) is a South Korean academic. He served as the president of Seoul National University from 2010 to 2014, and as president of University of Ulsan since 2015. Early life Oh received his B.A. degree in political science from Seoul National University in 1984. In 1982, he received his Ph.D. degree in public administration from New York University in the United States. Career From 1983 to 2010, he was a professor at school of public policy, Seoul National University. From 2000 to 2004, he was dean of the graduate school of public administration at the same university. From 2010-2014, he was the president of Seoul National University. Thanat Khoman
Thanat Khoman (also Thanad; th, ถนัด คอมันตร์; , 9 May 1914 – 3 March 2016) was a Thai diplomat and politician. He was foreign minister from 1959 to 1971, leader of the Democrat Party from 1979 to 1982, and deputy prime minister from 1980 to 1983. He died at the age of 101 on 3 March 2016, a couple of months shy of his 102nd birthday. Early life Thanat was born in Bangkok and came from a Thai Chinese family. His father, Phraya Phiphaksa Satayathipatai (Po Khoman) was one of Siam's first law school graduates and a judge on the Supreme Court of Thailand. Thanat attended Assumption College in Bangkok, before he went to France, graduating from a Bordeaux ''lycée''. Cristián Barros Melet (born 9 October 1952) is a Chilean diplomat who was the Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations in New York since 16 April 2014 to 2018. He also served as Ambassador to India (2010–14), Italy (2008–10), Peru (2006–08), United Kingdom (2000–02) and Denmark (1993–96). Ban Ki-moon (; ; born 13 June 1944) is a South Korean politician and diplomat who served as the eighth secretary-general of the United Nations between 2007 and 2016. Prior to his appointment as secretary-general, Ban was his country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade between 2004 and 2006. Ban was the foreign minister of South Korea between 2004 and 2006. Ban was initially considered to be a long shot for the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations however, he began to campaign for the office in February 2006.
