Order of Brilliant Star () is a civilian order of the Republic of China (Taiwan) recognizing outstanding contributions to the development of the nation. The order is instituted in 1941 and can be awarded to both domestic and foreign nationals. Order medal and ranks The centre of the medal is a five-pointed star in token of virtue. Chen Chun (; born 13 October 1949), also known as Sean Chen in English, is a Taiwanese politician and lawyer who was the third Premier of the Republic of China (Taiwan) of the Ma Ying-jeou government. Yu Kwang-chung, also romanised as Yu Guangzhong (; 21 October 1928 – 14 December 2017) was a Taiwanese people, Taiwanese writer, poet, educator and critic. Life Yu was born in 1928 in Nanjing, Nanking to Yu Chaoying and Sun Xiujun, but fled with his family during the Second Sino-Japanese War, Japanese invasion. After returning to Nanjing many years later, he again was forced to flee due to the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War. Yu and his family fled to Taiwan via British Hong Kong in 1950 with the Kuomintang-led Government. Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai ( zh, c=白先勇, poj=Pe̍h Sian-ióng, p=Bái Xiānyǒng, w=Pai Hsien-yung; born July 11, 1937) is a Taiwanese writer who has been described as a "melancholy pioneer". He was born in Guilin, Guangxi at the cusp of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
