Ordem Do Vulcão
Ordem do Vulcão (Portuguese for the ''Order of Vulcan'' or ''Order of the Volcano''), also named as the Medal of the 1st Class of Ordem do Vulcão is a national award that is done each year by the President of Cape Verde, it is awarded to the greatest personalities of Cape Verde and non-Cape Verdeans, which contributes to an aggrandizement of the nation. It is the main decoration of the country created after the independence of the nation. Eugénio Tavares
Eugénio de Paula Tavares (born 18 October 1867 in the island of Brava; died 1 June 1930 in Vila Nova Sintra) was a Cape Verdean poet. He is known through his famous poems (''mornas''), mostly written in the Creole of Brava. Biography Eugénio de Paula Tavares was born on the island of Brava in October 1867 to Francisco de Paula Tavares and Eugénia Roiz Nozzolini Tavares. His family is mainly descended from Santarém, Portugal. He was baptized at the Saint John the Baptist (São João Baptista) church in Brava. A few years later, his father starved to death and he was adopted by José and Eugénia Martins de Vera Cruz. José Martins de Vera Cruz, a physician and surgeon who was also mayor of Boa Vista and Sal (Sal was not its own municipality until the 1930s) and later of Brava after he moved. João Lopes Filho
João Lopes Filho (born c. 1943) is a Cape Verdean anthropologist, historian, university professor, novelist and an investigator. A specialist in the largest studies and works of appreciation of the Cape Verdean Creole, a Central-Western Atlantic African Creole, he was born in Santa Catarina in Santiago. He is the main investigator in anthropology and ethnology in the country, he was one of the most awarded professors in the country, he had written about thirty works. He is a teacher at the University of Cape Verde (Uni-CV), he heads the João Lopes Foundation on Arts and Literature and the Capeverdean Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Maria Amélia Gomes Barros da Lomba do Amaral, known as Amélia Da Lomba or Amélia Dalomba (born 23 November 1961 in Cabinda) is an Angolan writer and journalist. She also served as Secretary of the Missão Internacionalista Angolana. Da Lomba was awarded a presidential medal from Cape Verde in 2005. Schooling Da Lomba graduated with a degree in Psychology from a Moscow university. Cesária Évora GCIH (; 27 August 194117 December 2011), more commonly known as Cize, was a Cape Verdean singer-songwriter. She received a Grammy Award in 2004 for her album '' Voz d'Amor''. Nicknamed the "Barefoot Diva" for performing without shoes, she was known as the "Queen of Morna". Évora began singing as a young woman in bars in her hometown of Mindelo, and came to international prominence in the 1990s. The Radiotelevisão Caboverdiana is Cape Verde's first radio and television station broadcasting local programs from Cape Verde, Portugal and Brazil as well as the rest of the world especially France. It is a publicly owned company and enterprise and is located in the Capeverdean capital city of Praia, in the southern part in the middle of Achada Santo António RTC also has a few buildings, it also has offices in São Vicente (serving the northwestern part), Sal (serving the northeastern part), São Filipe on Fogo Island (serving the southwestern part) and Assomada in Santa Catarina (serving Northern Santiago and possibly Maio).
