Opérateur De Transport De Wallonie
Opérateur de transport de Wallonie (OTW) (French for: ''Transport Operator of Wallonia''), formerly Société régionale wallonne du transport (SRWT) (French for: ''Walloon Regional Transport Company''), is responsible for the supervision, strategic planning and marketing of a group of five regional public transport directorate branded as TEC or "Transport En Commun" (French for: ''Public Transport'') in Wallonia, Belgium. It is primarily a bus operator, but also operates the Charleroi tram system. TEC buses and trams are distinctively painted yellow and red. TEC was founded in 1991 through the breakup of the former Belgian NMVB/SNCV into separate companies for Wallonia and Flanders. TEC sells the MOBIB smartcard branded "TEC it easy" and runs a chain of shops called Espace TEC. Charleroi Metro (french: Métro de Charleroi; previously known as the ''Charleroi Premetro'' (french: Métro léger de Charleroi)) is a light rail network in Belgium, consisting of a loop line around central Charleroi and three branches towards the suburbs of Gilly, Anderlues and Gosselies. Another branch to Châtelet (historically, the third one) was partially built but never entered service. The current system was opened in seven phases ranging from 1976 to 2012, which included 28 stations, of which 24 were in service along with 6 regular tram stops in Anderlues. Vlaamse Vervoersmaatschappij De Lijn (English: Flemish transport company ''De Lijn''), usually known as De Lijn (, "The Line"), is a company run by the Flemish government in Belgium to provide public transportation with about 2240 buses and 399 trams. De Lijn was founded in 1991 after the public transportation companies of Antwerp and Ghent fused with the Flemish part of the NMVB (Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen, or the "National Company of Neighborhood Railways"). Socialist politician Steve Stevaert of Hasselt implemented a policy allowing registered residents in Flanders aged 65+ to ride anywhere in Flanders free.
