''Oonops'' is a spider genus mostly found in America, Europe to Russia and East and North Africa. One species – '' O. pulcher'' – is not only found in Europe and North Africa, but also on Tasmania, although no species occurs on the Australian mainland. '' O. triangulipes'' is distributed in Micronesia. '' O. caecus'' is restricted to Lesotho, and '' O. leai'' is endemic to Lord Howe Island. Robert Templeton
Robert Templeton (12 December 1802 – 2 June 1892) was a naturalist, artist, and entomologist, and was born at Cranmore House, Belfast, Ireland. Life and work Robert Templeton was the son of John Templeton, and was educated in Belfast Academical Institution, which was in part his father's creation. In 1821 he left Ireland for Edinburgh, Scotland to study medicine and following graduation practised in the University hospital. In the same year he became a Member of the Belfast Natural History Society. In 1833 (6 May) he was commissioned as Assistant Surgeon in the Royal Artillery, initially stationed at the Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, close to London, England. In 1834, Templeton was stationed to Mauritius and in 1835 to Rio de Janeiro and Recife. From Rio (1835) he took ship to Colombo, Ceylon, ''via'' the Cape of Good Hope and in this year became a Corresponding Member of the Zoological Society of London. Oonops Domesticus
''Oonops domesticus'' is a tiny spider (males about 1.5 mm, females 2 mm) from Western Europe to Russia. It is a bleak light red, with a reddish to whitish abdomen. It is found only in buildings, where it builds a retreat in corners and between old paper. It hunts at night, probably with booklice as their common prey. Its translucent flat egg sacs contain only two eggs. It is very similar to the closely related '' O. pulcher'', but has five tibial spine pairs instead of four. ''O. pulcher'' is found outdoors.
