"One Step Out of Time", written and composed by Paul Davies, Tony Ryan, and Victor Stratton, was the 's entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, performed by Michael Ball. Background Composition The song is a mid-tempo ballad, relating the singer's comfort with being "one step out of time" in relation to rejecting the reality around him, instead pining after his former lover. Not accepting that his relationship is over, and spurning the disapproval of his friends, he wishes to put "his love on the line" one more time, imploring his former lover to just let him know what he had done wrong. Michael Ashley Ball (born 27 June 1962) is an English singer, presenter and actor. He made his West End debut in 1985 playing Marius Pontmercy in the original London production of ''Les Misérables'', and went on to star in 1987 as Raoul in ''The Phantom of the Opera''. This is a summary of 1992 in music in the United Kingdom, including the official charts from that year. Summary 1992 was a bleak time for the UK Singles Chart, with sales at a very low level. Due to several long chart runs, only 12 singles topped the chart this year (not counting the Queen single, which was a holdover from Christmas 1991), the lowest number since 1962, which also saw 12. In addition, none of them only lasted a week – all lasted at least two, the first time this had happened since 1971. In the album charts Simply Red had continued success with Stars which would prove to be the second best selling album of the 90's and the best of 91 and 92. "Why Me?" is a 1992 song by Northern-Irish singer Linda Martin. It was the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1992, performed for by Martin. The result was also notable as the song was composed by Johnny Logan, who had previously won the contest with "What's Another Year?" and the self-composed " Hold Me Now" (in and respectively). Logan is, to date, the only person to win the contest with a song composed for him, win the contest with his own song and then compose another winner. The Eurovision Song Contest 1992 was the 37th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Carola. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (SVT), the contest was held at the Malmö Isstadion on 9 May 1992 and was hosted by Swedish journalists Lydia Capolicchio and Harald Treutiger.
