The Living End
The Living End are an Australian punk rockabilly band from Melbourne, formed in 1994. Since 2002, the line-up consists of Chris Cheney (vocals, guitar), Scott Owen (double bass, vocals), and Andy Strachan (drums). The band rose to fame in 1997 after the release of their Extended Play, EP ''Second Solution / Prisoner of Society'', which peaked at No. 4 on the Australian ARIA Charts, ARIA Singles Chart. They have released eight studio albums, two of which reached the No. 1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart: ''The Living End (The Living End album), The Living End'' (October 1998) and ''State of Emergency (The Living End album), State of Emergency'' (February 2006). It is the first album to feature drummer Andy Strachan, since Travis Demsey had left the band after their second album, '' Roll On''. Taxiride
Taxiride are an Australian rock band. Formed in 1997, the band consists of Dan Hall, Jason Singh, Tim Watson and Tim Wild. Prior to formation, the four founding members of Taxiride—Hall, Singh, Watson and Wild—had been playing in cover bands around Melbourne. The quartet recorded an EP, which a taxi-driving friend of theirs helped promote. They took their name from the experience had by passengers first hearing their music on a taxi ride. After their music was heard by an executive from record label Warner, the band signed a contract and released their debut album, '' Imaginate'', in 1999. This was followed by 2002's '' Garage Mahal''. The 2003 Triple J Hottest 100, announced on 25 January 2004, was the eleventh such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, according to listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. As in previous years, a CD featuring 40 (not necessarily the top 40) songs was released. A DVD, containing film clips of songs from the Hottest 100 was also released. A countdown of the videos of each song was shown on the ABC music series '' Rage'' in March. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. ARIA became the official Australian music chart in June 1988, succeeding the Kent Music Report, which had been Australia's national music sales charts since 1974. It was released in Australia on 29 September 2003, as the first single (not including ''One Said to the Other'' as it was re-recorded for the album) from the band's third album, ''Modern ARTillery''. It was released in the United States on 2 March 2004. The song reached number 37 on the ARIA Singles Chart and also charted in the US, peaking at number 26 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks.
