One Day In Your Life (album)
''One Day in Your Life'' is a compilation released by Michael Jackson's former record label Motown Records, consisting of both solo and Jackson 5 tracks recorded with Motown, and released on March 25, 1981. It was the first Jackson album released in the 1980s. Most of the tracks are from Jackson's fourth studio album, ''Forever, Michael'' (1975). The other songs were taken from Jackson 5 releases to pad the album's running time. Motown later admitted that the album was just a quick cash grab generated from the success of Jackson's '' Off the Wall'' (1979). The compilation's title track (originally appearing as a non-single track in ''Forever, Michael'') was released as a single and became a worldwide hit, especially in the United Kingdom, where it became Jackson's first number-one hit as a solo artist. Brian Holland
Brian Holland (born February 15, 1941) is an American songwriter and record producer, best known as a member of Holland–Dozier–Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound, and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha and the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Holland, along with Lamont Dozier, served as the team's musical arranger and producer. He has written or co-written 145 hits in US and 78 in the UK. Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States. For a short time, he partnered with Robert Bateman, and together they were known as "Brianbert", collaborating on such hits as " Please Mr. Postman" for The Marvelettes. ''Music & Me'' is the third studio album by American singer Michael Jackson, released on April 13, 1973 on the Motown label. The album was reissued in 2009 as part of the three-disc compilation '' Hello World: The Motown Solo Collection''. Background and production The album was released during a difficult period for Jackson, who was 14 years old at the time, as he had been experiencing vocal changes and facing a changing music landscape. Having been influenced by fellow Motown label mates Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Jackson wanted to include his own compositions on the album, but Motown refused to allow this. The Corporation was a group of songwriters and record producers assembled in 1969 by Motown label head Berry Gordy to create hit records for the label's new act, The Jackson 5.
