Oliver Brown (American Activist)
Oliver Brown (August 19, 1918 – June 20, 1961) was an African-American welder who was the plaintiff in the landmark 1954 U.S. Supreme Court case '' Oliver Brown, et al. v. Board of Education of Topeka, et al''. He was recruited to be part of the Topeka NAACP legal action to desegregate the city's public elementary schools in 1950. At the time, Brown was a welder for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and was studying to become a minister. Attorney Charles Scott, who was his childhood friend, asked him to join the roster of parents who would become plaintiffs in the organization’s case against the Topeka Board of Education. By the fall of 1950, the Topeka NAACP had assembled a group of 13 parents to serve as plaintiffs for the case that would eventually be filed under the name of one of the parents, Oliver Brown, becoming known as Oliver L. Oliver Maurice Brown (10 October 1908 – 1953), also known as Buster Brown, was an English professional footballer who scored 77 goals from 118 appearances in the Football League playing as a centre forward for Nottingham Forest, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion. He was Brighton's top scorer in the 1933–34 and 1934–35 seasons with, respectively, 15 and 26 goals in all competitions. Brown was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, and died in London. Oliver Brown (born 18 August 1994) in Dronfield, Derbyshire is an English snooker player. He will turn professional at the start of the 2022/2023 season. He earned a two-year tour card after winning the men's EBSA European Snooker Championship in October 2021. Career 2013/2014 season Brown played in a stage of any ranking event in the first time in the 2013/2014 season. However, he lost in the first qualifying stage of the Australian Open to Joel Walker 5–3. John Brown (May 9, 1800 – December 2, 1859) was an American abolitionist leader. First reaching national prominence for his radical abolitionism and fighting in Bleeding Kansas, he was eventually captured and executed for a failed incitement of a slave rebellion at Harpers Ferry preceding the American Civil War. An evangelical Christian of strong religious convictions, Brown was profoundly influenced by the Puritan faith of his upbringing. He believed that he was "an instrument of God", raised up to strike the "death blow" to American slavery, a "sacred obligation".
