Ollie's Candy (foaled April 27, 2015) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2019 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes. Career Ollie Candy's first race was on April 22, 2018, at Golden Gate, where she came in first in a Maiden Special Weight race. She picked up another win on May 13, 2018, when she won an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Golden Gate. On June 16, 2018, she competed in and won her first graded race - the Grade-2 2018 Summertime Oaks. She came in as the 3:1 underdog and beat Thirteen Squared by a neck. She finished her 2018 season with 2nd-place finishes at both the July San Clemente Stakes and the August Del Mar Oaks. Candy Ride
Candy Ride (foaled September 27, 1999 in Argentina) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse who went undefeated in six starts on both turf and dirt racing surfaces in Argentina and the United States. In Argentina, he won the Gran Premio San Isidro and the Joaquin S. de Anchorena, setting a world record of 1:31.01 for 1,600 meters on the turf in the latter. He was named Argentina's Champion Miler of 2002. Relocated to the United States in 2003, he won the American Handicap and set a track record in the Pacific Classic Stakes. Candy Stripes
Candy Stripes (April 12, 1982 – February 28, 2007) was an American thoroughbred race horse and sire. A descendant of the great Nearco through his sire, Blushing Groom, he was out of the mare Bubble Company, a granddaughter of the 20th Century's greatest sire of sires, Northern Dancer. Candy Stripes is best known as the sire of 2007 American Horse of the Year, Invasor, and the 2005 American Champion Male Turf Horse, Leroidesanimaux. Candy Stripes was also the broodmare sire of the unbeaten, Candy Ride. Bred in Kentucky by Allen Cowen, Candy Stripes raced in France, winning two of six races and running second in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-I). Key to the Mint (1969–1996) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Background Bred by Paul Mellon and raced under his Rokeby Stable colors, Key to the Mint was trained by future Hall of Fame inductee Elliott Burch. Racing career Key to the Mint did not run in the Kentucky Derby, the first race of the U.S. Triple Crown series, then finished third to winner Bee Bee Bee in the Preakness Stakes and fourth to Riva Ridge in the Belmont Stakes. Northern Dancer (May 27, 1961 – November 16, 1990) was a Thoroughbred who, in 1964, became the first Canadian-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby. Alanesian (1954–1977) was an American Thoroughbred racing filly and successful broodmare. She was bred in Kentucky by E. Barry Ryan, a society Horse trainer, trainer and owner of Normandy Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. She was purchased privately by William Haggin Perry whose great-grandfather, James Ben Ali Haggin, owned Elmendorf Farm from which Normandy Farm had been formed in 1959. Herbager (1956 – 25 March 1976) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and an influential sire in both France and the United States. Background Herbager was sired by Vandale, a stayer who won the 1946 Prix du Conseil Municipal and whom Herbager helped make the 1959 Leading sire in France. His dam was Flagette (by Escamillo), who was inbred 2x2 to St. Leger winner Firdaussi, meaning both her parents were sired by him. During his racing career he was owned by Simone Del Duca and trained by Pierre Pelat. Racing career Herbager made two starts at age two, finishing second once and winning the Prix Seraphine.
